canon 10x42 L IS vs 10x42 L IS WP (1 Viewer)

Are these two different binoculars,
an upgrade , or just a name change?

thanks,

edj

EDJ,

As far as I understand, the Canon 10x42L IS WP has existed since their introduction in 2005! It was and still is the only waterproof (WP) image stabilized binocular in their line up. Some, like me, just drop the WP at the end when naming the instrument!
