A new one for me! Help with ID pls (1 Viewer)

I just saw a bird in my garden that I have never seen before - after watching it for about 10 minutes, and checking my very basic North American bird book, the closest thing I came to was a "Kentucky Warbler"
A beautiful little bird, with big, very distinctive black mask, with bright yellow below on the throat and slightly down to the chest, with a line of white along the top of the mask. Back a brownish-grey, with underside a brighter colour of the back. A bit of yellow on the underside of the tail. The bird was larger than a goldfinch (and definitely not a goldfinch), but smaller than a (American) robin.

Any other suggestions? the K.W. photo I have in the book does not exactly match.
It was on a dogwood shrub beside my pond, seemed to be picking at bugs or ants on the shrub, very active and acrobatic.

Thanks for the quick response - It is very definitely a "Common Yellowthroat", although I don't like the "Common" part - it is a stunning little bird. I don't often see anything new in this area, so this is exciting!
