Unfortunately, it's not a Boreal Owl (eastern Ontario).

Someone had a photo of a Boreal Owl dated late October 2010. Went for a visit very recently. Didn't have the binoculars with me. Saw an owl perched rather high up. It was sleeping and its head was tucked down. Could only get a profile view.

Some other guy got us going by saying he thought it was a Boreal Owl due to its size (relative to its distance from us). However, upon closer inspection of the photo once I got home....I can see the stripes of a Saw-whet and not the dots of a Boreal. I'm not seeing things right?
