Black Kite on at Knaresborough tip again.
Plenty of Red Kites around plus lots of whacky colours/moults on some of the harewood birds. I aint holding out... |

Storm Petrel
Does anyone know if any Filey ringing sessions are taking place this year, and whether they are still happy for people to tag along?
I know it's cheating big style, and I've always refrained, but thought I'd try and stick it on the Yorkshire list through this means now. I've conceded the normal route is going to take some time. I guess once you see it fly off after being after being rung, it is no different at that point than any other bird, some of which may have been lured by seed etc. |

Anybody contemplating the meet on Sunday.... the weather forecast isn't good, we'll be making a descision tomorrow night as to whether the meet will take place.

Unfortunately not but I'm sure Bolton Abbey isn't a bad guess.

Not quite as many but I witnessed a female Goosander teaching her four offspring how to fish on the Wharfe at Tadcaster a couple of weeks ago. Also seen them with young on the Whare at Wetherby in past years.

Spent an evening on West Yorks moorland. My first day hunting Long Eared Owl spotted in daylight at 8PM, watched for 30 minutes. Also Ring ousel and stonechat. Was also pleasantly suprised to find a common lizard basking on the path. Do they occur often on the moors - I was approx 400M.
|
Funnily enough I too have seen a small lizard on moorland in West Yorks, presumably Common. Only I saw it and my mate with me didn't believe me. That was in Calderdale.
