Looking for a travel lens, that was relatively small.
have used this lens for two months and have no problems todate. Lens has a locking switch that is a bit small for big hands and only locks in the 70mm setting. Good results obtained at all stages and appatures.up:

Pros:

Small, relatively light, good optics, focus speed, IS
Cons:
Price, small zoom ring.

Agree with Bryan but wanted to add in a comment about the superb IS and quick auto focus. Too short a focal length for dedicated bird photos but good to take \"on spec\" where you would leave a longer lens behind because of weight , bulk and the need for a tripod with a big lens.

Pros:

Very bright optics. Superb AF. Compact.
Cons:
Focal length without a TC.

I also have one of these lenses. If you are in a hide, and can get the birds to come close enough ( I can get them within 10 feet) this is a superb lens. I have also used it with the Kenko 1.5 TC and it's still as sharp as the 400mm f/5.6L.
