Description: The Keela Falkland Jacket is a well-made single layer of Ventile cotton jacket with Keela’s ADS laminate liner giving an added layer of protection. This means the jacket is lighter in weight but still offers good weather protection and moisture wicking. Being made of cotton the jacket is quieter than a nylon/ Gore-Tex . In the conditions that I have used the jacket in it has kept me nice and dry and the wind out. The jacket has eight pockets one behind the storm flap takes an OS map with no problem. There are two zipped fleece lined hand warmer pockets behind the front pockets and two slash pockets on the chest. These have a press stud tab that can be used to hold open the flap on the main pockets. There is also an inside Velcro secured poacher style pocket. The jacket has waist and hem elastic draw cords.
The hood is detachable with and secured with press studs this has a good sized wired peak and volume adjuster on the back of the hood and secured elastic draw cord. The hood gives good vision when closed down and moves well with your head. The storm flap is secured with press studs this covers a two way zip. The jacket can also have keelas orkney fleece zipped in it. The cuffs also have them for adjustment.
This is a good jacket if you are looking for a Ventile jacket or as an alternative to the standard Gore-Tex jacket .

Pros: Waterproof. Windproof, Hard Wearing. Silent.
Cons: A bit heavy for summer depending on what you are using it for.

Have found this jacket very good with a few minor faults which are not to serious. It is waterproof and windproof, very silent. Minor problem is after a year use the mesh along the rear edge is beginning to wear in 2 places but could be stitched up easily. Cuffs and stand up neck part can get a dirty mark on them but comes of easily with some soap and warm water. I use it mainly in Winter for birdwatching and some lower level walking. Would find it a bit heavy for hillwalking. All in all a good jacket for Winter and Autumn use, it would be a bit warm for summer use.
