Cerise-crowned jacamar

This species shows in Birds of Peru (Schulenberg et al) as the Yellow-billed jacamar but HBW has split it. Sources suggest it is restricted to terra firme forest. I photographed a pair in varzea...

Thanks Melanie. It would be tragic to see another South American grebe species go extinct. I found this artist whose idea was to depict extinct birds in the fashion of the time of their extinction....

Thumbs up Canopy Observation tower at Tapiche Reserve

I visited Tapiche Reserve about a year ago. You travel from Iquitos to Nauta then Requena and a 4 hour boat trip to the reserve, privately owned. They now have a canopy observation tower near a lake....

Congratulations on a great project! May I ask what are the 3 grebe species that have gone extinct in the last 40 years? Are there lessons to be learnt from them for the Junin Grebe?
