    Why do owls whistle?

    Hi, we have a tawny owl that uses our roof as a scouting post for mice or other prey. Sometimes at night we can hear the owl right outside our bedroom window whistling, not calling, the sound is very strong and persistent for a few moments, then silence.     New on here, from not so sunny Charente!

    Hi, just a line from a new member, born in the english midlands, lived over 40 years in Sweden, where I did most of my birding, now happily retired in SW France, just a few hours drive from the High Pyrenees. This is a great site to find!
