Code and scheme ID for metal ring on BHGull

I've managed to (I think) get enough shots of this ring on a black-headed gull in UK this morning to assemble the full code (see linked TIFF composite), but the Scheme address is not legible and I wondered if any seasoned ring readers know what countries use these rings with the characters...

Hoping this is my first P. carbo sinensis in Britain. I've not seen one so white-headed but I'm not familiar with gular angle to look for. Cheers!

    Noctuid(?), July, Devon

Moth guide hasn't been successfully used to ID this one, suppose it might be a variable species or just overlooked it. Anyone? Moth is on my gf's Smiley Face tshirt if you're wondering what the background is.

    The 'crocodile dentist' bird myth

Today I have gone from misreading the plant species Egyptian clover to googling Egyptian plovers for fun to finding out it is this bird that is mythologised to this day as the 'crocodile bird' that pecks pieces of stuck food out of crocodiles' open mouths. I'd heard mention of this before but...

    Finnish-ringed Osprey in Kenya

Taken into care having become entangled in fishing nets. Looks like it will be ok! 7000 km from ringing site. Great to see ringing finds in international press. https://www.nation.co.ke/counties/siaya/Rare-bird-Osprey-flies-from-Finland-to-Kenya/1183322-5429762-gvge4s/index.html

    Duck, Orkney Isles UK, September

This duck was on the sea at the cruise ship berth near Kirkwall associating with common eiders. I had wondered if it was tufted duck but now I'm thinking mallard? Either way it stood out as a bit weird. Thoughts?

North Devon blog post - isn't this a Brown Booby?!

https://www.devonbirds.org/news/bird_news/devon_bird_sightings?blogEntry=21146 Bottom photo 'juvenile gannet' with gull mobbing it looks a heck of a lot like brown booby to me. EDIT: sorry not necessarily a brown but really seems like a Sula sp.

Day-guide recommendations, Orkney Mainland Sep 2019

My partner and I are stopping off in Kirkwall during a North Atlantic cruise in September so will have one short day and no car in which to try and pick up a rarity or two, probably just on the Orkney mainland. Please could anyone recommend any local bird guides who could guide a day out on...

Common Gull ssp. ID, Newcastle upon Tyne 6/11/18

Would be keen to hear from those with experience of the subspecies, their thoughts on the IDs of two individual Common Gulls that have dropped in at an urban patch that doesn't usually get any. First individual is attached in this post. In the pic with two Commons it's on the right.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-45944385/wildcat-kittens-filmed-by-hillwalker-in-cairngorms Just look at that tail! Fantastic find, I doubt my eyes would spot them in that terrain.

Killdeer nest delays Ottawa Bluesfest preparation

Found it interesting this is international news, I would assume these kind of upsets occur fairly often, though not at a massive festival site I suppose. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44605201 I'm very opposed to them moving the eggs incrementally away from the area, I can't see...

    Audio, N Devon, June 13th

Thick scrub between mitigation pond of old power station, and pastoral farmland. This song stopped me in my tracks for its resemblance in phrasing (less so in voice) to Common Redstart, a good bird for the patch. I believe I know, and partially saw, the culprit, but wonder if anyone else will...

    Nr Cape Coral, April 2018

Hi all on the Florida patch forum! Going to be based in Cape Coral for 6 days pre-Disneyworld in April (1st-6th) and looking for tips if folks would be so kind, on what may be the best places bird-wise from there. Neither of us have birded the US properly before so no specific interest in...

    Chiffchaff ssp., Devon this month

A Chiff pictured in this blog post (http://www.devonbirds.org/news/bird_news/devon_bird_sightings?blogEntry=13447) is being touted by people other than the observer as a possible Siberian (requesting more shots). Looking at shots of other sibes on google image, in the hand comparisons, I'm...

http://www.devonbirds.org/news/bird_news/devon_bird_sightings?blogEntry=12385 I don't have my bird book to check out the minutiae but what I first considered to be Kittiwake or Common Gull I'm now wondering if it could be Laughing Gull?

    Goshawk at last (UK)

Not a Q&A, just a thank you to all the contributors to the countless Sparrowhawk/Goshawk threads that I've read through on here over the years. On Thursday I finally got a satisfactory record of Goshawk, while out working in Devon, and it was the various pointers from on here that had stuck, for...

Tideline bird, North Devon Dec 2015

(at night, no flash, no problem) My dog found this far-gone bird in Instow, North Devon on 7th Dec 2015. I wish I'd bagged it up as I couldn't identify it and the tweet going round about this Mega tideline bird in Cork just across the water has piqued my interest. All I have are four mobile...
