    Raptor ID - UK

Guys ... I didn't see the bird myself, a friend did. However he is good on raptors and esp sparrowhawks/goshawks. His initial thought as he saw and photo'ed the bird was that it was a sparrowhawk, so I guess the flight must have been sparrowhawk ish. It wasn't until he looked at the photo later...

Thanks guys ... so far! You may not be able to make out from the 'resized' photo but the bird has a grey mantle/scapulars/back/rump and secondary coverts. It also has black tips to the primary's and a white terminal band on the tail. Although the picture is not great it looks as if there is a...

    Wild boar in Britain

I seem to remember reading a while ago about mice/rats eating albatross chicks on one of their breeding islands in the south Atlantic. The mice / rats are introduced, accidentally or not I don’t know. The effect of this ‘unnatural’ predation is having a severely adverse effect on the population...

Hello GDC, I have just looked at the photos on your web site ... this place looks magical! Could I suggest you maybe contact someone from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Audobon or another organisation of this type and ask them for their advice. I would be loath to take the advice of a...
