    It is really interesting. As far as I knew, the sample was made in Japan but the bulk production is made in China. I asked EO while they're at pre-order status. They said China. Could it be a small quantity pilot run in Japan ?

    A newly design 32/30mm no matter 7x or 8x SLC with HD glasses with good ER would make me buy one.

    Trinovid 8x32 BA, how does it compare?

    They are very nicely made. Built like a tank though a bit heavy. ER at 14mm is not for glasses wears with deep set eyes. Optically they are still very good, but with similar money or even lower you could get better modern bins. So, it depends what is your main concern.

    Ted is right that the 'Improvement' of coating over the years couldn't be detected by bare eyes. Of course, newer is better is always true. The biggest difference I could 'feel' is the RB effect is better controlled at the latest SV8.5x42.

    Zeiss Notarem is very unfamous for their collimation stability. There are quite a handful of technicians in UK who can strenghten the prism and do a cleaning job.

    EL 8.5X42 dilemma

    I prefer the SLC Neu more than the EL (non-SV). With similar money (or lower), you could have a look at Meostar HD, Razor HD or Conquest HD. Even the Leica latest Trinovid. If fund is not a concern, SV10x50 is the best 10x bins I've ever tried and the RB is well controlled within the SV series.

    David, As long as I know, the FF are coming from the same OEM factory of Prime HD. Basically same design but using better glasses and coating on Prime which perform better optics. Prime and Questa (Bosma) are having same score according to my testing. Andy

    To DIY a workable "bino"culars is nearly next to impossibe, but some whole-hearted fans made their own astro scope (mono).

    New 12x36 III OR 15x50?

    I won't suggest Canon 15x50 except you purposely need that power . They are big & heavy. Even too bulky to hold. To pair your 7/8x, 12x36 IS are good choice. But, try before you buy. Some people could not tolerate the "image shifting" syndrome :)

    1st question : A new bins focuser could be stiff, but loosen over time. 2ns question: To adjust the diopter of UV, you have to pull it up first.

    Both Opticron & Hawke are very popular brands in UK and easier to accees. Go the BF sub-forum and have a look which bins interest you most. They produce some very good value for money bins.

    Frank, As you might also know that Bosma is more an optical company than a manufacturer. Actually they do not have any production facility. Being the biggest in optics business, they have cooperation with many factories. I guess their R & D is from time to time working with the manufacturers...
