    Some Blues

So is the consensus now that it is an Adonis rather than a Chalkhill?

    Final two blues

I'm still confused as to whether the second butterfly is a Brown Argus or a female Common Blue. Any conclusions?

    Some Blues

Many thanks Dave. I know that the undersides of the Blues are difficult, about the only one I can do with confidence is the Holly Blue! As for whether it is Adonis or Chalkhill, hopefully some others will wade in to show their expertise.

    Norfolk Butterflies and Moths

Painted Ladies are certainly out in abundance. Just saw four in my garden in Seething, together with a Red Admiral and a Small Tortoiseshell. Never seen a single Painted Lady in the garden before, having lived here now for 8 years. Indeed, even when I have seen them on reserves, I have rarely...

I realise that these aren't easy to tell apart, but does anyone have any idea about how to distinguish an Indian Nightjar from a Savannah Nightjar?

    Harrier

Yep, the 3rd image belongs with the other set. I'm unclear, however, as to why the bird in the first two images is a Montagu's rather than a Pallid, let alone as to why it is a female. Could you - or indeed anyone - elaborate.

    More Harriers

Again from the Little Rann last March.

This is another bird photographed at the same time as my other post. It looks a little different, but is probably the same species.

    Whitethroat

I attach some photos taken yesterday in my back garden in Norfolk, UK. I am reasonably sure that the bird is a Whitethroat, but would like some help in deciding whether it is a Common or Lesser.

Hi Can anyone ID this large snake photographed earlier this month in Gujarat, India. It obviously sensed my presence and dived into nearby vegetation, where I had no intention of following! Hence no picture of the head.
