    Unusual place for a nest

Really interesting!! To think that we moved a solar light away from the blue tit nest in case it bothered them!! :eek!:

    Unusual hooded crow behavior (Ireland)

Ha!! Maybe he is so happy that the weather has finally improved?!! ;) No, seriously, I have no idea if they do that but it must have been interesting to watch (and hear!) o:)

Trying to plan ahead ~ Bird Boxes!!

Simon, many thanks for your reply. I totally see your point re all nests possibly being disturbed, that would be awful. Will now work on a different plan and see if I can get a box made....love the sparrows!! You just saved me some money , thanks!! o:)

Trying to plan ahead ~ Bird Boxes!!

Ok, This has to be the first time that I haave seen one of these and would welcome your comments. Am really enjoying the sparrows in our garden. Have a blue tit box (been very sucessful in the past but upsetting this year...another story..) a robin box...very new but already put in place for...

    Busy Summer Garden

Ooerr..I would object to that Rook too!! Do yu think he really has GBH in mind?! Lol, I am just feeling so sorry for the birds this "summer" that I am feeding as in the winter almost?? All the birdies need little umberellasa I think....must google it!! HH ~ your fledglings sound delightful...

    Busy Summer Garden

I am also putting out loads of food out there!! There may be a lot of truth in what you say. The Starlings are quite the acrobat...they hold on with their feet to the pole of the "stand alone" fat feeder (dug into the ground) and very often feed in an upside position!

Three adult Swallows feeding young at one nest

Oh, yes, do try to get some footage on this!! Not always that easy I know!!

    Big Birds Taking Over Feeder

Difficult but if I was you, I would completely stop feeding for a fair amount of time. When you re start, have small feeders only (research what the smaller birds you want to attract eat) and hopefully all will change? I do not want crows and magpies here and have found that if I watch out for...

    Big Birds Taking Over Feeder

Whereas we cannot pick and choose, I understand what you mean! All birds want to eat but you can experiment as to what food you put out etc...for example, I was putting actual plastic containers of "fat" on the bird table, well, that soon stopped and I put them in the "wire mesh" square...

    Young robin?

HI, HH!! No, it didn't...thought I saw a faint blush of red coming through...oh, it probably wasn't a robin..??

    Young robin?

Grrr....my camera was not within reach or I could have posted a pic here. :C A bird was on our bird table and throughly enjoying his breakfast so I picked up binos and watched.....realised he was not a sparrow as I had first thought. He had the appearance of a robin but minus the give away red...

    Something wierd going on

HH....how are things today? I panic at times and think the birds have all gone but they inevitably return and hope that has happened in your case? With the scones etc and all the food you are providing, they would be silly to stay away!! ;)

    birds don't like live mealworms

Eek....only just seen your post!! How brave you are! I got squeamish the first time I bought DRIED mealworms as they moved as I opened the tub!! :eek!: Now, beetles in da fridge....oh, no way!! :-C Think many of our birds are spoilt. I hung up new feeders, cleaned birdtable, put all fresh food...
