    Bolivian Flycatcher ID's needed

I thought I might be seeing more Vermillion Flycatchers than I was positively ID'ing. Thanks! I have only seen adult male and adult females, juvenile male is a first for me. Plus in another continent I didn't want to be too presumptuous. Thanks for the ID's!

    Bolivian Bird ID's Needed (42!)

I spent a month in Bolivia with a friend visiting his family all around the country. I got some birding opportunities and bought two field guides in Spanish but still have many unidentified birds. I'm SO sorry for all the links instead of attached files. I already uploaded these photos to...

    Sandpiper ID - southern California

I found this sandpiper at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Orange County, California. I think it's a Pectoral Sandpiper, but others have second-guessed it. The bird in question is on the right side of the photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/photographerp/11332486415/...

    Warbler - Orange County, California

I saw this warbler at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley, Orange County, California. This bird was hanging out in an area of pines. The park has recently had some interesting warblers including Canada and Prothonotary. http://www.flickr.com/photos/photographerp/10840756924/...

    Savannah Sparrow subspecies ID

I am pretty certain this is a Savannah Sparrow although some have called this a Song Sparrow. I'd specifically like to know what subspecies it is. It was found in a tidal saltmarsh habitat (Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve) in Orange County, California. These are links to the giant size pics so...

Empidonax sp. - Orange County, California

I found this Empidonax flycatcher in some willows along Aliso Creek in Orange County, California. I have no experience ID'ing Empidonax in the field so I can only guess based on range. http://www.flickr.com/photos/photographerp/9465707553/

    Hawk in south Florida

This pic was taken Nov 29, 2009 in Palm Beach County, Florida. I think it's a juvie Red-shouldered but some of the important areas are not shown. I may have already shown this picture before so I'm sorry if this is a re-post. I have gotten several opinions and they vary quite a bit...

Waders at Long Key State Rec, Florida Keys, Feb 2013

I second Dunlin and Short-billed Dowitchers. The Short-billed because of the relatively flat back (without a dip near the rump) and noticeable amount of white on the chin.

    King & Clapper Rails

I'm very new to avian taxonomy, but I have been interested in reptile taxonomy for several years. Have any organizations accepted these splits? My biggest issue with DNA is the use of miniscule sections of DNA that are not at all representative of the genome. How confident is the taxonomic...

Partially leucistic Common Yellowthroat - Louisiana

Let me start by stating this is not my photo. I pulled it off Flickr. Is that partial leucism the true genetic condition? Could it be the piebald mutation seen in cats and Ball Pythons? I'm curious to learn more about this morph/mutation...

A mess of shorebirds - SW FL - 10 thousand islands

I'd like to add that two of the dowitchers on the far left side appear to be Long-billed. Long, straight bill, low loral angle, and not much of a pale area visible on the chin. On one the supercilium has almost no arch too.

    Gull ID - Florida panhandle

Could its young age account for the noticeable size difference in another immature plumaged Herring Gull? I cannot yet determine what year most gulls are, so I don't know if the photographed and ID'd Herring Gull is a first or second year bird.
