although I agree with much that you uh the d3000 has the same 10mp sensor as the d60. Nikon may have eked out a bit more from it but.... -
full frame - would you?
i can understand why that should be for landscapes and people etc but i'm intrigued why that should be for wildlife. the 24mp sensor in the d3x and the a900 offers a apsc 10.2 image in apsc mode so you are getting less pixels if you have to crop. if you can get close enough then all bets are...- pduxon

full frame - would you?
with Sony getting agressive on Full Frames with the a850 (ok pricing in the uk is a little high but it'll soon drop) would you consider changing from aps-c to full frame if they were priced at £1000/$1500?- pduxon

Longish Range Lense
the d60 will only auto focus with Nikon AFS lenses (the 80-400 will not autofocus on a d60. not sure why it is too slow for birds tho, it works for me although an afs version would be nice thanks nikon) and sigma lenses with HSM motors (or the ones which have optical Stabilisation). Nikon 70-300mm VR Thoughts?
i like the 70-300 vr. it's a nice compromise in size and weight compared to say the 80-400. i wouldn't put a tc on it though. -
Compact Superzooms - Can I have a look at some shots?
very few compacts use AA's Steve. some of the panasonic Ls series do as do Canon A series. the only super zoom i know of that does is the Canon sx120IS it has a 36-360 f2.8-4.3- pduxon

the 10-24 is a nikon. canon do a 10-22. wide angles are fun. they are harder to use but the results when good are worth it. -

yeah you can get a large building at the wide end 10mm is VERY wide. in but the 10-20 will have a fair amount of distortion converging verticals and all that. so you may need to do more post proocessing, the 18-50 f2.8? decent lens, as is the tamron 17-50. if you shoot indoors especiallly dark... -

i like the original 10-20. but its all about perspective. sometimes a wide angle works sometimes it doesn't, just width is deadly dull. remember near, middle, far. for outdoors i don't see the point of f2.8 for an extreme wide angle, of course indoors is totally different. -

ok VERY simplistically if you stick the 14-24 lens on a d90 it has the same field of view of a 21-36 on a full frame camera like a d700 or a 35mm field camera. -

i'll throw in a vote for the sigma 10-20 f4-5.6. not sure why you want f2.8 for landscapes, indoors i'd understand. bear in mind though that wide angle lens are used as much for their exaggerated dof as for the width. what lenses do you have? some wide images can be deadly dull. remember... -

D200 or D700 or 40D?
not been through every post so if its already been discounted.... if you're looking at the 300f2.8 have you considered the 200-400 f4? will work with a 1.4tc. Jaff, I think they are dismissive because of "pixel density" a d700x would be a different thing altogether. never used a d700 so can't... -
