    Cirl Buntings in my Garden

    This takes me back a bit. I remember them breeding on a small holding by the family farm and I enjoyed watching them there. The holding was sold and the new owners completely destroyed their habitat and I never saw a Cirl around here after that. That was 1959. Chris

    Top 5 recommended night sights between £150-500?

    Hi, People I know who live in the countryside when taking their dogs out for a walk in the dark attach a small flashing neon light to the dogs collar. These are the same as used by cyclists and you can see the light flashing in the pitch black at some distance, just a thought. Chris.

    That's it for another year all young fledged and no casualties in what seemed to be a differcult breeding season. The Coal tits fledged last and had a bit of a runty but it seems to be doing Chris.

    With my 15x Canons I have always used the standard carrying strap, I can carry the bins all day with this easily.     Hi, I read about this tagged Dove in the Sunday People yesterday. It flew 3,500 miles from Suffolk to Mali and back, covering 430 miles a night. Scientists hope to use the satellite readings to safeguard their resting sites. Chris.

    Polarized optics in binoculars?

    I use polarised filters on my 15x Canons in bright snowy conditions and they work wonders. The drop off of light in those conditions are minimal. Chris.

    First signs of Spring 2015

    Yesterday I spent time watching 2 wintering Common Sandpipers with the male displaying to the ree and 9 Chiffchaff's chasing each other and looking frisky. Great tits calling everywhere.
