    Mallorca Birds - 1

Agree with the eagle however the first image looks like a Balearic Warbler to me, especially with that orange bill-base.

    Gosney 'Finding birds in..' swap

A bit of a long shot but does anyone have the Gosney book, Finding Birds in Mallorca that they no longer need. I have the guides to Turkey, Israel and Southern Spain that i'd be happy for you to take your pick from and swap. Regards

Black-eared Wheatear? Lagoa dos Salgados, PT October

It's still a Chiffchaff. However the second picture you've posted here is clearly of a different bird and does look good for Black-eared Wheatear.

    Norfolk birding

It's south of the bump. Park in the lay-by 150m south east of Brook Rd on the A149. Walk north west for a few yards and then take the path to the left onto the common. The bird spends a lot of time in trees immediately to the left of the track but can range further. Hopefully bump into you...

    Norfolk birding

Thanks very much Sean, I'll give that a try. I'm afraid I can't return the favour re the shrike at Mundesley but, if you're able to travel a couple of miles further, the one at Beeston was dead easy yesterday and showed exceptionally well.

    Norfolk birding

I was planning on spending a couple of hours at Gt Yarmouth cemetery tomorrow to see if I can track down the Radde's. It's been described as being present at the 'cemetery wall' and I wondered whether this was a specific spot as the whole place is surrounded by walls. If it is a particular...

    Dear ATM/ATS 65 HD + 25-50x eyepiece owners

Yes, i have the exact same setup and can confirm the characteristics you've noted are the same with my kit. I just presumed it was normal and didn't worry too much about it. Regards Graeme

Side, Turkey 6-13th April. A "Non-Birding" Trip Report

I was there between the 3rd and 11th May and White-throated Robin were present in various spots in reasonable numbers (although bear in mind we covered 2000 miles on our travels and I didn't see one at Side). We didn't go for the owl on the tourist boat but used 'vigotours'. The excursion was...

Side, Turkey 6-13th April. A "Non-Birding" Trip Report

I had an eight day birding trip to Turkey in 2012. With the trip virtually over and whilst we killed a bit of time waiting to go back to the airport at Antalya after seeing the Brown Fish Owl, we spent three hours around the ruins at Side. And i have to agree with everything Phil says; it's...

    Norfolk birding

En route to Winterton, from Attleborough, this morning to have a look at the Richard's Pipit, I figured my luck must be in when I had a Red Kite soaring low over the A11 in the area of Spooner Row. I use this road frequently and it's the first one I've seen here.

Stu Afraid I can't shed any light on your specific problem but it's certainly not the fact that you're running 64 bit as I am too. Graeme

    Norfolk birding

I was at Winterton beach a week or so ago with the kids on one of the few hot days we've had recently. It was pretty busy with lots of people around and, whilst supervising my youngest who was paddling in the shallows, an adult grass snake swam straight past us both and headed south, keeping a...

Identification of bird in Ecuador - flying upside down?

Possibly a Turkey Vulture. And if you think it's flying upside down, a trip to Specsaver is maybe in order. ;)

Birding around Antalya, Southern Turkey 8-22 April 2012

I agree with Derek, a very nice report, although it's fair to say that i always enjoy reading your reports. As a general observation, i'm always appreciative when birders spend their time creating detailed and useful reports for the benefit of others and i've used many of them in the past to...

Return 4-day early spring migration bash to Southern Cyprus

Nice report Nick however isn't the Wheatear pic just a Northern and not Black-eared?

    Norfolk birding

The message appeared to be potentially helpful for Norfolk birders so i'm not sure why it needed to be deleted. The facility to PM the original poster also seems to no longer be available. Maybe there's an obvious explanation that i'm overlooking.
