Another Wuhan, China, area bird for ID

This was out behind a gas station near Wuhan. There were a bunch of common magpies flying around foraging and I took a photo of this guy. I thought he was another magpie until I blew up the photo. Now I'm not sure. No white, and the head looks inordinately large. Any help? Thanks!! - Vick

    Wuhan, China, bird for ID

In a lotus swamp in Wuhan I caught this faraway heron. So I know this is a long shot but thought someone might be able to ID it by its wing patterns. Note the yellow legs. I realize the photos are really bad. Thanks for any help. - Vick

My guide said the attached bird was a chat flycatcher. The ranges I've found don't seem to include Tanzania for the chat flycatcher. If not a chat flycatcher, what flycatcher is it? Thanks! - Vick

    Burchell's vs. Ruppell's starlings

Question: Burchell's Starling and Ruppell's Starling seem to be considered separate species. But in the bird list I have for Kenya, only the Ruppell's is listed. I thought I had both ID'd among my photos. Does Burchell's Starling have a different name? Does Burchell's not appear in...
