    Ah ok, so it's marked T*P, not T*P*. The difference between the two is in the markings only, not in the prism coatings. Graham

    My 7x42 Dialyt T*P is marked 'Made in West Germany' and was made in 1993. Zeiss did not change the marking with the unification of Germany, but several years later. Graham

    Ed, the Linet is nowhere near 96* AFoV. Linet were notorious for their completely over-the-top claims on their prism covers. They wouldn't get away with it today. The AFoV is probably mid 70s so comparable with the new NL. Graham

    Hi Tom, Alas, nothing is perfect in this world and in the case of my 1993 7x42 Dialyt, it's also the focus which is imperfect - the optics are absolutely wonderful. Some reviews I've read also identified the focus as a weak feature. Best, Graham

    Hi Tom, Gary at ECBR or Zeiss Germany can tell you immediately - just drop them a line. I think yours is a relatively late sample - maybe 2001 or 2002 but that's a wild guess. Yeah it's a wonderful glass with superb transparency, contrast and colour rendition. As you say, it's a glass to love...

    I emailed Zeiss in Germany when I wrote the original post here and Zeiss emailed back confirming that there is no difference between the T*P and T*P* coatings. The extra * is for cosmetic symmetry only. It signifies no optical difference whatever. Graham
