Help with dating Zeiss Dialyt 8x56 B/GA T*P Binoculars

Ah ok, so it's marked T*P, not T*P*. The difference between the two is in the markings only, not in the prism coatings. Graham

Help with dating Zeiss Dialyt 8x56 B/GA T*P Binoculars

So it's a Dialyt 8x56 marked T*P* and manufactured in 1990. Do I understand that correctly? Is it marked "Made in West Germany" or "Made in Germany"? Graham

Email Zeiss who will tell you the year of production. Gary Hawkins may also chime in with the year if he sees this. Graham

Help with dating Zeiss Dialyt 8x56 B/GA T*P Binoculars

My 7x42 Dialyt T*P is marked 'Made in West Germany' and was made in 1993. Zeiss did not change the marking with the unification of Germany, but several years later. Graham

    Good service from Zeiss USA

Hi Arthur, A few years ago I lost one of the objective covers for my much-loved Nikon 8x30 EII here in the UK. I contacted Nikon UK who immediately sent me a replacement pair without charge. Thank you Nikon! Best, Graham

    Nikon EII 8X30 case options?

I recently picked up a couple of Steiner porro cases, one hard (£15), the other soft (£5), for 30mm porros from here: https://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/steiner-hard-case-for-7x30-binoculars Other than the leather case for the 8x30 E, this hard case is the best-fitting case I have yet found for...

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

I understand from a dealer, who put the question to Swarovski on my behalf, that the prisms are Schmidt-Pechan. Graham

New Product Introduction Today From Swarovski ?

Ed, the Linet is nowhere near 96* AFoV. Linet were notorious for their completely over-the-top claims on their prism covers. They wouldn't get away with it today. The AFoV is probably mid 70s so comparable with the new NL. Graham

Dialyt 7x42B T*P* has arrived - first impressions

Hi Tom, Alas, nothing is perfect in this world and in the case of my 1993 7x42 Dialyt, it's also the focus which is imperfect - the optics are absolutely wonderful. Some reviews I've read also identified the focus as a weak feature. Best, Graham

Dialyt 7x42B T*P* has arrived - first impressions

Hi Gary, I was under the impression that all the 7x42B Dialyts marked T*P* (i.e. the later ones) had 7-digit serial numbers of the form 2XXXXXX. Is this not correct? Graham

Dialyt 7x42B T*P* has arrived - first impressions

Hi Tom, Gary at ECBR or Zeiss Germany can tell you immediately - just drop them a line. I think yours is a relatively late sample - maybe 2001 or 2002 but that's a wild guess. Yeah it's a wonderful glass with superb transparency, contrast and colour rendition. As you say, it's a glass to love...

Zeiss 7x42 B/GA -- what does GA mean

    1. It is rubber armoured. I don't believe that 'G/A' is part of the official designation for this model. 2. Yes. See my 'Magnificent Service from Zeiss UK!' post earlier today. It's an excellent binocular. Graham

    Magnificent service from Zeiss UK!

I recently bought a 1993 Zeiss Dialyt 7x42B T*P which, although in broadly very good condition, had a few issues in that the right dioptre ring was broken, there was a speck in the right telescope, the focus was stiff and the armour was starting to lift. So I sent it off to Zeiss UK in Norfolk...

    Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 T*P and Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 T*P*

I emailed Zeiss in Germany when I wrote the original post here and Zeiss emailed back confirming that there is no difference between the T*P and T*P* coatings. The extra * is for cosmetic symmetry only. It signifies no optical difference whatever. Graham

    Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 batswings

I do not wear spectacles but I'm getting back-reflections in the eyelens of my Zeiss Dialyt 7x42. Can anyone recommend any batswings eyecups for the Zeiss Dialyt 7x42? Many thanks, Graham
