    How to set IPD accurately?

And how much did you pay for this advice? My 'financial' acumen is way low, and I could've suggested that!

No birds on 7 webcams in 7 countries at 16.35 UK today

I saw a grey coloured thrush on the Panama feeder, but that was all!

    Goldcrest on feeders

I saw my first goldcrest yesterday, in the garden....lovely. My wife has seen them before here but she has had more opportunity than I. It was a good day, yesterday, for the first time in the garden, I saw a tree creeper. In the past I had only seen their backs as by ran up a tree trunk; I...

    Stalking the Elusive Alpha

There are some who would claim that they can see more detail observing through some Canon binoculars but they don't seem to emerge as being in the alpha class.

    High end hide luxury

I went to a location,' where birds were the main attraction but loads of kids running up and down and junmping on the hides' floorboards: they loved it. But the bird watchers didn't. Solid floors? And shelving?

New released Swaro CL Companion 8x30 B

Gijs, Presumably, for a concave surfaced eyepiece lens, her measurement is not from the entire but from the edge??? I would wish that all manufacturers measured from the plane of the rim to the sharp focus AND the depth from the rim to the ocular's centre surface, (which is c. 5mm on my ELs...

birds seen on live webcam in makov, Czechia

I am not sure that the you tube sites are live. I normally watch the live cam listed separately, where it has lying snow and some flakes falling. However, this site shows no snow and it should be dark now. Saw a pheasant and a stork.

Great live HD Birdcam from Czech Republic

This miserable morning, I have enjoyed watching the live feed for much of the time. Although no expert, I think the tit I see is a marsh tit based on bib shape. Two jays have dominated activity, disturbed confrontationally by GS Woodpeckers. Have also seen collared doves, nuthatches and, at...

Great live HD Birdcam from Czech Republic

Why is it such a common problem now days for binoculars to have too much eye relief r

Justabirdatcher I agree with Lee. One of the problems with fold down eye cups for specs wearers is often that fully folded back eye relief is too short and the lowest intermediate position gives not enough.

    New Canon IS Models

I have ordered 10x30 is II ex demo at a good price. Might get them tomorrow. I have been wondering what advantages that the new 10x32 offering holds for bird watchers that would justify the triple price. 2m close focus as against 4m would be a help, but hardly critical; 13.8% more light yes...

Why is it such a common problem now days for binoculars to have too much eye relief r

Simply bearings also sell O rings by linear measure and diameter, plus a glue: I have never tried it but if the glue is good that might be a better way of doing it if you are more nimble in the DIY department than I am now.

Why is it such a common problem now days for binoculars to have too much eye relief r

When I started out with O rings, I bought a mixed bag from the bay. I am in the UK and if you search for simplybearings.co.uk you will be able to choose sizes. Not cheap but a helpful company.

    "Immersion" - What Price Glory?

Patudo I suspect you are right, but with my myopia i would not know where to point the bins: I'd be sunk - or at least, deeply immersed.

Why is it such a common problem now days for binoculars to have too much eye relief r

As one of those myopic individuals who need longer eye relief (c.15mm from the eyepiece cup surface in the fully lowered position) the depth by which the ocular is recessed can make long (?) eye relief bins, such as Swaro EL SVs, too short. Design by lawyers? I have Zeiss bins with quoted ERs...

    Review of Traveller 8x32

In thread 2 of "eye relief - Rule of thumb method?" Pete Gamby said "We measure from the outmost/top edge of the eyepiece in its lowest position (twisted down or folded down) to the point at which the exit pupil diameter is measured to be at it's maximum/optimum e.g. 5.25mm for an 8x42...

    New Canon IS Models

Maico, The statement in the link in post 84 was the source of my confusion:- "Product Description Get a whole new perspective - from bird watching to concerts and more - with the 10x32 IS Binoculars. Designed for extended comfort and boasting Lens Shift Image Stabilization and Powered IS, you...

    New Canon IS Models

It is not clear to me to which model the bad review relates. The reviewer has prior experience and so has credibility. Canon has reduced its direct sales price and discounts are being offered in at least one Canon recognised dealership. Other retailers are offering cheaper prices. Can...

    New Canon IS Models

It is a bit pricey in the UK though, about £3,000/= used http://www.ffordes.com/category/Binoculars_and_Scopes/Binoculars/Zeiss It ought to be good though at that price <g>.

Under "How to cancel an account" it is stated that "There is normally no need to cancel a Birdforum account. If you expect not to need to post at Birdforum, you can simply stop visiting our site. There is nothing you need us to do.", so the 250,00 figure probably over estimates the number o...
