Eastern Ecuador-andes To Amazon August 2013

Went birding in Ecuador for the third time in August to see the eastern half of the country; I had previously birded the western slope/Choco area and the high elevation paramo as well as the Galapagos, and wanted to complete the width of the country. I was not disappointed; in 10 days we saw 430...

    TROGON HELP from PANAMA ?

Hi, everyone; I'm going through some old pics and this one's giving me fits. I know the blue eye-ring says female White-Tailed, but the tail just doesn't look right for W-T. (Looks more like male Violaceous). The yellow on the crown is a light artifact, I think. Any takers?

    Parrot Id From Brazil?

Back in 2003, I visited the Brazilian Pantanal and took this photo. I had the shot labelled as Nanday Parakeets, but upon looking, that's not right. I don't have anything in my guide that IDs these. Any ideas? Thanks

My wife and I will be spending 5 days in the Monteverde/Santa Elena area of Costa Rica near the reserves in August, and we want to find a guide who can give us 2 good days of birding the area. Does anyone know of a private guide or a service based in the area that does that sort of thing...

Birding The Peruvian Amazon Oct 2008

In October 2008, I spent a week in the Peruvian Amazon basin on an ecotour that turned out to be a birding bonanza. The following is a semi-complete report on the birds and the itinerary. The trip was booked through International Expeditions, an excellent operator that specializes in...

    Woodcreeper Peru

I saw a dozen or so woodcreepers on my trip to Explorama Lodge on the Amazon; I tried to get shots and remember them, but this one has me stumped. Although the bill doesn't look quite right, the best I can come up with is Black-Banded. Any takers? Thanks in advance.

    Telephoto question

Hi, everybody. Sungrebe Bill from New York. I see on some of the lens reviews, some folks list the lack of image stabilization as a con. Will the image stabilization feature in the camera body be enough? It works well in my Konika- Minolta digital SLR with a 075-300mm lens. Thanks

New bird for database-Spot crowned Barbet

This is a new bird for the database I believe; Spot Crowned Barbet (Capito maculicoronatus). We saw this male on the well -known Achiote Rd in Panama, on the Caribbean side of the isthmus. Even our guide was excited; I guess that's how you know you have a good bird. Spot-Crowned Barbets are...

    Digiscoped?

I took this shot while holding my Nikon Coolpix 4300 up to my Nikon ED fieldscope 60. I'm told that the 4300 is the only Coolpix that cannot be attached to a scope. I'd like to either confirm or refute that, if anyone can help me. Anyway, this was fun, and I'm happy with my first 'digiscoped'...

    Nikon Coolpix 4300 - HELP!

I think I posted this somewhere else, but here goes again; does anyone know of a way to attach a CP 4300 to a Nikon FIeldscope ED 60?? It seems that this is the onlyCP model that doesn't come with an adapter, and I can't believe it. I don't want to buy all new stuff. Any suggestions?
