    ID Please

It's an Armillaria species, probably gallica or mellea. They very often grow in large clusters but that is a very impressive one!

    Plant ID

I have been asked to identify this plant (the one the butterfly is on) without any details of location or anything like that. Thought I would cheat seeing as I have absolutely no idea and ask here! Anyone got a clue? Even family/genus would be helpful. I will try to get more details and post...

    Butterfly ID

I have been asked to identify this butterfly (and the plant, so separate post in the plants forum) without any locational details at all or anything like that. All I can tell from the photo is that it is not British and therefore beyond my butterfly knowledge! Anyone able to get it down to...

looking for a *large* squirrel proof (cage) feeder

Do make sure that the feeder is actually squirrel-proof before you buy, as I have bought many feeders with squirrel cages which do not seem to give the squirrels any problems! It needs to extend below the feeder as well as around it.

    South Wales fungus

Looks like a Xerocomellus Bolete or something closely related, but I can't be certain of that from this image. One of the underside would have been useful, and is usually necessary for fungal ID. Habitat info (e.g. what trees it was growing with) is also very helpful. But even if it is what I...

    Fungi For Id Please

Okay, I had no idea that Cortinarius could be so do-able, so I defer to your greater knowledge Nick. Purely for my own benefit, could you tell me what features you are using to ID this?

    Fungi For Id Please

Photos 1 to 3 are of a Cortinarius species - no chance of an ID! I'm not sure about the first, the photo is not all that helpful, but possibly another Cortinarius.

Wader - Paxton / Didington Pits, Cambs. UK

I originally voted for Greenshank, but have now been won over by the Green Sandpiper camp. It just goes to show what a closer look can reveal!
