Not sure I agree. Before falling in love with the 8x Noctivid 3D, I owned both old and new Trinovids, and two three different Ultravids. None comes close to the Noctivid 3D view. Others here have similar experience. So I doubt the hypotheses that we are used to flat fields, or at least, you... -

Leica Trinovid worth it ?
Why not buy a lightly used Ultravid? Seems good value. I'm usually not a fan of buying second hand, but my 2 year old Ultravid still looks as if it came right out of the box, you really need to abuse these bins to degrade their performance. So provided you can inspect the specimen before buying... -

Some tools become jewels though. Look at any high end watch, how many Rolex owners actually dive deep or drive sports cars around a track? A great tool will have appeal beyond its originally intended use. -

Yawn. Nobody recognizes my Rolex Explorer, other than fellow watch enthousiasts. I wear it for myself and nobody else. So far for the 'bling' aspect. Value for money-wise, any Casio will beat a Rolex in the same way as a Polaroid picture will beat a Picasso. Good luck with the discussion :)- Anthon

Both Torview. Both deliniation and a sense of space. The contrast and sharpness surely contribute to the sense of 3D. But there is also a definite sense of space, airiness, dimensionality. The sense of space is not as dramatic as in the Habicht you mentioned earlier but still beautifully... -

Would it matter? Some bins will still allow me to see/experience/dream up/encounter/imagine 3D in a way that my other bins do not. Wether with one eye or two eyes. So there is more going on than just one eye/two eyes. Whatever causes this additional 3D effect, wether it's real or distortion... -

I know that theory, I'm just not convinced. Hence my further questions for comparison which are twice...ignored. Image POP cannot be the only answer since my 10x50 does not pop. In no way does the view come close to the Noctivid. Yet it does 3D. The Habicht has spectacular 3D. But POP? nah... -

I never argued the contrary. We all have our own preferences and indeed there might be better factors for choosing a bin than 3D. But this topic is about 3D, so that's what we discuss. Do YOU perceive any difference in 3D between the bins you mentioned? Because again we are at a strange... -

Odd eyecup setting.
My left ear is slightly lower than my right. Apparently few people have a symmetric face, but it is very hard to see for yourself. This according to my optician who always has to bend my glasses a bit in order for them to sit more or less straight on my face.- Anthon
