    Noctivid 8x42 is here

It's true, even though I had to get my Noctivids and try out for myself to see. Like you I never noticed this 'rubbing' in the last two years I owned the glass!

    Noctivid 8x42 is here

Strange, no matter how hard I try, I can't get my covers to smudge the objective lenses of my Noctivid 8x42.

    Green Noctivid

Not wearing camouflage in real life, I would still buy the NV even if they were fluorescent pink.

    My Noctivid are Back !!!!!!..........

Same here, I would have never noticed it had I not read this topic. It has no effect as far as I know on the performance of my Noctivid but I’ll keep an eye on it. It seems a bit of a shame to disassemble an otherwhise perfectly functioning pair of binoculars for a bit of play that is part of...

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

Not sure I agree. Before falling in love with the 8x Noctivid 3D, I owned both old and new Trinovids, and two three different Ultravids. None comes close to the Noctivid 3D view. Others here have similar experience. So I doubt the hypotheses that we are used to flat fields, or at least, you...

Owners: How Are Your Leica Noctivids Serving You?!

    1. Magnification Purchased (8 or 10): 8x 2. Months Owned: 5 months 3. Price Paid: 2600 euros 4. Brick and Mortar Purchase Or Internet: brick 5. Name of Company: A random Leica dealer in The Netherlands 6. Your Level of Satisfaction With Retailer: satisfied 7. Your Level Of...

    Leica Trinovid worth it ?

Why not buy a lightly used Ultravid? Seems good value. I'm usually not a fan of buying second hand, but my 2 year old Ultravid still looks as if it came right out of the box, you really need to abuse these bins to degrade their performance. So provided you can inspect the specimen before buying...

    Leica Trinovid worth it ?

You missed mine for which was advertised for 699 and eventually sold for 750! Demand was suprisingly great. I might sell my UltravidHD shortly ;)

Please compare the 2012-2015 Trinovid to the new Trinovid HD

I'm a little surprised you prefer the Trinovid over the brighter UltravidHD.

    Bird or Bino?

Some tools become jewels though. Look at any high end watch, how many Rolex owners actually dive deep or drive sports cars around a track? A great tool will have appeal beyond its originally intended use.

    edit: misunderstood the question completely!

    Noctivid testing in shiny weather

Does it matter if it is not measurable?

    Noctivid testing in shiny weather

Interesting, surprising even considering the heated debate with the 3D-deniers a couple of weeks ago:t:

    So I was wondering ?

Yawn. Nobody recognizes my Rolex Explorer, other than fellow watch enthousiasts. I wear it for myself and nobody else. So far for the 'bling' aspect. Value for money-wise, any Casio will beat a Rolex in the same way as a Polaroid picture will beat a Picasso. Good luck with the discussion :)

Napoleon did some things right. The introduction of the metric system is one of them!

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

Some insist that that's all there is to it, if anything at all...hence this 'heated' debate!

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

Both Torview. Both deliniation and a sense of space. The contrast and sharpness surely contribute to the sense of 3D. But there is also a definite sense of space, airiness, dimensionality. The sense of space is not as dramatic as in the Habicht you mentioned earlier but still beautifully...

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

Would it matter? Some bins will still allow me to see/experience/dream up/encounter/imagine 3D in a way that my other bins do not. Wether with one eye or two eyes. So there is more going on than just one eye/two eyes. Whatever causes this additional 3D effect, wether it's real or distortion...

    Bird or Bino?

Planes, trains, boats, insects, elephants, stars.. Imagine birding without a bin, or with a 50 year old one. Would you enjoy it as much?

    Bird or Bino?

Looking at some of the heated debates and also at the fact that many of you have multiple (overlapping) binoculars, one has to ask: Which comes first, the Bird or the Bino? Is the glass just a tool or has it become a hobby on its own? I'll readily come out and admit I like birds but love my...

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

I know that theory, I'm just not convinced. Hence my further questions for comparison which are twice...ignored. Image POP cannot be the only answer since my 10x50 does not pop. In no way does the view come close to the Noctivid. Yet it does 3D. The Habicht has spectacular 3D. But POP? nah...

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

I never argued the contrary. We all have our own preferences and indeed there might be better factors for choosing a bin than 3D. But this topic is about 3D, so that's what we discuss. Do YOU perceive any difference in 3D between the bins you mentioned? Because again we are at a strange...

    Odd eyecup setting.

My left ear is slightly lower than my right. Apparently few people have a symmetric face, but it is very hard to see for yourself. This according to my optician who always has to bend my glasses a bit in order for them to sit more or less straight on my face.

    Leica's Noctivid and 3D

I did not ask for a clarification of 3D. I asked if you could compare the Noctivid 3D (or whatever it is we see) to a reference bin which everyone agrees has very good 3D. After all, you say that you see the same 3D in the SF and SV, this in contrast to the claims made by some other posters and...
