May 4th My first ever visit to RSPB Gwenffrwd-Dinas in mid wales today with ex-Birdforumer Rich/Clarkgriswold. I've always been a bit put off by the travel times and the fact I work on the edge of the Forest of Dean means I usually see it's specialities there but I was blown away by the...

Plebejus argus? SW Romania, 29 April 2024

Think so but when I was in Romania last year a lot of what looked like silver studded blue could possibly have been idas or reverdine. Separating them was beyond me

    Fish ID cardiff

I'm seeing quite a lot of these in Cardiff Bay right now, its a freshwater lake with lock access to the sea and some seafish access tunnels. Gathering in quite large numbers and at least a foot maybe foot and a half long. I'm sure it's nothing unusual but fish are a mystery to me Any ideas

    Owen's Wildlife 2024

Not sure. She went New Year’s Day but she’s been quite cold water averse so far. There’s really not been that many sunny days until the last few weeks. Probably still single figures for the year I’d guess. 😀

    Owen's Wildlife 2024

April 19th A rather drizzly walk around Cardiff Bay didn't produce much at all but an afternoon visit to Cosmeston brought some lovely Water Vole views, not a year tick but still a highlight and a singing Lesser Whitethroat. They breed on the site, pretty much in the spot I saw it, but I...
