    Kowa's new 50 mm scope

Borgs are well known for quality, the spotter using Borg objective may not be waterproof but I suspect optical quality will be poor.

    Kowa's new 50 mm scope

I had KOWA 553 and MM4 in my cart, went ahead and purchased MM4 for the third of KOWA 553 price. What a bummer :)

    Kowa's new 50 mm scope

I'm quite sure KOWA as a company is not oblivious to how markets work and pricing strategy. Are they just riding the hype factor of TSN 883/4 and assume consumers will bear the the cost for no obvious feature differences compared to less expensive 50mm spotting scopes. I am tempted to put an...

    Kowa's new 50 mm scope

It is disappointing that KOWA has cut corners by using plastic body and poor quality zoom lens, yet the priced in premium range. I own Takahashi refractors with Fluroite, some of their 4inch scopes FC series with back fluorite element can be purchased for less than $2k.

Harness for Canon 10x42 IS L

Update on Binobro's Harness: I took the Canon 10x42 IS and Binobro harness on a week long trip. In Summary: Pros: - The Harness is minimalist lightweight and size Large fits Canon 10x42 IS snugly. - It takes a bit to get used to the strapping mechanism, but it really works well. I took on...

impressions on the Canon 10x42L IS

my two cents (I'm not an expert) FWIW. I compared new canon 10x42 with Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42. I noticed that optical quality of both Zeiss and Canon are the same but Canon had the upper hand with 3D like view and IS. However the ergonomics of Canon is very bad, I don't mind the odd shaped...

Harness for Canon 10x42 IS L

IMO utility sling won't work well when wearing a backpack with hip belts. I placed an order for Binobros carry pouch.

Determining the Age of a 10X42 L IS by Serial Number

The last 3 digits of the serial number is in low hundreds, I think it means its probably a new version, since while not impossible it will be difficult to expect something manufactured 8 years ago is still sticking around in the stock. If my assumption is true, that is Canon made new Bino's...

Determining the Age of a 10X42 L IS by Serial Number

my 10x42 arrived today, the serial number starts with 42 XXXXXX, based on the decoding logic mentioned on this thread, it means 1. Manufactured in May 2008 or 2. Manufactured in June 2016

impressions on the Canon 10x42L IS

I use a Canon 12x36 IS II and couldn't stop myself from buying the 42 IS. I also have Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 in terms of image quality the Canon 12x36 is close with little softness compared to Zeiss, but when IS is engaged, its right at onpar with Zeiss if not better. I have put 12x36 on sale...

The Best 'Alpha' Binoculars for Those of Us With Tremors

+1 for Canon IS bino's. I have 10x36 which I find has decent optics and use it for stargazing etc. I have read the latest Canon IS has updated optics and you can find something which isn't heavy. I find IS very effective, and lets you see more for sure. Make sure you use Lithium ION batteries...

Pentax XW Eye Pieces in Kowa 883

Thanks Jerry. If you don't mind can you share where did you get the adapter done for 883 and among 20,14,7 and 5 XW EP's which one of them will come to focus with 883. I'm tempted to get Pentax PF 80 ED, too bad Pentax is has dropped the ball on QC with the scopes, and I've no idea how to...
