    Pyracantha (aka Firethorn)

    The birds around here (N. Calif.) avoid pyrocantha till the berries have gotten overripe, then they gobble them all down and get drunk! They fly right into the ground, get up and stagger around, then go back for more. I've never yet seen any bird get hurt from their binge, so it's really funny...
