Historical (2010 May) - Kruger Park

Hi, Could you help me with these birds, please? In my notes, it also says 'comb duck' (presumably mentioned by the guide) - but none of the pics locks like a fit for that. Thank you!

Ducks Myvatn area, Iceland - historical

I'm looking at the Collins app: the female seems much lighter than the birds in my pic and the male in eclipse has a large white patch near the shoulder, which is missing. Or do they come in local subspecies?

Hi there, I came across these two ducks from a trip in summer 2006 and got stuck - not ferruginous, not female king eider, not wigeon. But what and why? Thanks for your help!

Thank you both, especially also for pointing out the differences between white backed and cape vulture. That'll come in handy once I start working through the excursions into Kruger Park :).

    Eswatini Hlane NP - historical

I'm reading all contributions with great interest anyway. Lots to learn! And I remember my excursions to Hlane with great fondness. Haven't checked the 2nd trip yet, there might be something even weirder lurking behind the rhinos...

Ducks & gull, Wismar, North Germany

Hi, I need some help, please. The first duck was on a freshwater lake in the south of Wismar, the other to photos were taken on the island of Poel (Baltic sea near Wismar). The gull I think is either Lesser or Great Black-Backed, but I don't know how to tell the difference. Thanks, Kristina

    song/call recording near Cottbus, Germany

Wow, the app said willow tit! Which birds would impersonate them? I only know of jays and starlings being good impersonators.

    song/call recording near Cottbus, Germany

Hi all on a walk today we heard this call. The BirdNET app gave an 'almost certain' ID, but that would be a life-tick for me and my husband, so I'd like your opinions first. Thank you!
