Feisol CT3372 and Cley Spy Mulepack

I did try attaching to the base of the head but it never felt particularly secure to me. However I have found a resolution by purchasing a spacer made by Benro. It's designed to raise geared tripod heads so the adjustment knobs don't catch on the base. Essentially it's a short centre column that...

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try

Feisol CT3372 and Cley Spy Mulepack

I've acquired a Cley Spey Mulepack and the instructions state the top strap needs to go around the centre column.....However my Feisol does not have a centre column does this mean I will have to try and obtain one to use the Mulepack ? or are there any workarounds please. I use the tripod with a...

4k Monitor for photo editing yes or no

I don't disagree at all with what you say but sometimes the cash isn't there. The Benq gets good reviews as being a very good Eizo substitute and with a calibrator plus paper profiles from the manufacturers I'm hoping to remove colour issues from printing...still got to get the shot correct in...

4k Monitor for photo editing yes or no

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to say budget was £500 ish so no Eizo I'm afraid ☹️ I'm considering the Benq SW 270 which is pretty much Adobe RGB but not 4k. I understand there are other 4k monitors around my price point but don't have the full Adobe RGB. Is there a point on the colour gamut...

Generic / Universal Seed Tray UK

I have looked again but I believe the only solution is to buy matching feeder and tray unfortunately. I'm not inclined to do that currently but if in the future the feeder gives out on me, it will be something that will figure in any replacement

    Alternative to Paramo Velez Smock

I'm considering getting a smock as opposed to a jacket to use for wildlife photography. Unfortunately the piggy bank won't run to a Paramo so any other suggestions for suitable and cheaper jackets please e.g. Hoggs of Fife, Struther. Ideally needs to be waterproof, wind proof and not feel like...

    Is the Canon R6 a bird photographer's camera ?

Thanks for sharing those Frank. I was beginning to wonder if everyone had gone for the R5 and I do understand the higher MP gives more scope for cropping; although the R6 allows for those on a lesser budget

    Is the Canon R6 a bird photographer's camera ?

I thought I'd post this to compliment the R5 thread as I'm interested if anyone has gone for the R6 or has everyone bitten the bullet and paid the extra for the R5

    UK Photographers to Follow

I'm already aware of the stunning work by Bence Mate and Markus Varesvuo but looking for recommendations of UK bird photographers who are worth following

    Twitching and suppression

Thanks to all for their input. It's helpful to get a wider understanding that not all twitchers are hardcore and disabuse my perception that the only aim is to see more birds than their peers

    Twitching and suppression

Before I start I'm not a twitcher and not a great birder for that matter either 😁 I regularly see reference to suppression of rare bird sightings where it is claimed there is insufficient rationale for doing this. There usually follows a torrent of vitriol from those who have missed out. What I...

Generic / Universal Seed Tray UK

I've had a quick internet search and was wondering if anyone could please point me in the direction of a generic / universal seed tray to fit under my hanging seed feeder to catch some of the spilt seed. My initial results seem to come back to trays which fit specific brands of feeder and...

4k Monitor for photo editing yes or no

Thanks for that I can't ever see me getting into video though. I'm looking at IPS monitors with Adobe RGB colour space

4k Monitor for photo editing yes or no

I'm looking to upgrade to a 27" monitor for photo editing - I don't do video. Looking for recommendations please on whether to go for a 4k version or not. My online research has left me confused with some saying it makes it difficult to assess sharpness with 4k whilst others claiming anything...

Some experience with a few Kowa 663 copies.

Beware of going down the rabbit hole. I did this with a previous TV; my eyes were happy with the picture but a digital test suggested some minor defects. From that point on it always was at the back of my mind when viewing. Just my thoughts YMMV

Compact travel tripod for compact travel scope

I used to have a Manfrotto 128 pan and tilt head. You could remove the handle and it was still reasonably compact but not as small as a ball head Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk

    'Choose any two'...

So does the Opticron 77 hit the price vs performance sweet spot or what other competitors would you put it up against. I know I have to view each scope but always good to have a short list of contenders otherwise I find it difficult to compare more than about 3 at any one time Sent from my...

    80mm scope vs 60/65mm alpha

Thanks for all your responses and sharing your experiences. I forgot to say I would be looking at buying used with a budget of £1000. I obviously need to view a few but always helpful to understand if there is anything specific to be aware of, especially if the viewing conditions aren't...

    80mm scope vs 60/65mm alpha

As I can't run to a full size alpha scope. I was pondering if a larger objective non alpha might offer better vfm than a smaller alpha. All thoughts appreciated Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
