    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

Click on 'Attach files' at the bottom left when writing a post. If you're doing it on a phone you can select a picture from the photo library, or on a computer navigate to wherever your photo is and then upload. There are certain restrictions on format I think, but JPEG works.

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

Just goes to show that whatever you have, someone has something better! ;) (y) And where are you if it's 16.00? Somewhere East and South of Finland I guess! ;)

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

You won't regret it if the ER is sufficient. For several years I tried to persuade myself that I really didn't need/want one. I already had the 10x42 NV so how could I justify the 12x50?, I told myself. I eventually gave in when I saw a very attractive price on eBay by a Leica dealer in Holland...

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

No, but close! It's a Japanese Seiko SKX009 Pepsi. Solid oyster bracelet. Had it for years!

FWIW I hold them like this. I find this a very steady grip.

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

For what it's worth, not many places have the 12x50. 12x simply isn't a popular choice because not many people can hand hold one. I'm blessed with very steady hands so it's not an issue for me. Also of course it's not the most useful magnification for the average birder. But I have to say that...

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

It wasn’t my intention to make anyone want to get one or say that they are preferable to an UVHD+, just answering a question! The NV is however a very fine binocular.

    UVHD+ appreciation ~ my, how I do

It has a flatter field (but not rolling ball flat) a much larger sweet spot, more neutral/natural colours (but still Leica), better resolution and contrast, a more immersive image, less CA, better focuser - the list is long, but the differences are not big, and having the 10x42 NV in no way...

why do the 8x50 and 10x50 Ultravid have the same FOV?

So do I! I live in Larsmo (Luoto). Where are you? I love my 12x50 UVHD+ and use it in much the same way as you describe above. I also enjoy my 10x42 NV. I've often wondered how it would compare to the 10x50 UVHD+. I think both would have plus points.

Finally clicked into place with UVHD Pluses (and still love SLC)

I think it’s probably a combination of a number of factors. This is the 12x50 which (you might recall) has a diopter which doesn’t seem to be correctly zeroed from the factory. My eyes are the same as each other, diopter wise, and I have the diopter set to ‘zero’ on all of my other Leica bins. I...

Hello Tom, been away for a while, but so pleased to hear that you sorted out your problem with the 7x42. As you probably remember, I’m also a big fan! Returning to your original post, FWIW I personally feel that a 10x bin compliments a 7x very well. I really see no reason to even consider the...

why do the 8x50 and 10x50 Ultravid have the same FOV?

FWIW I always get the impression of lower magnification with bins with a wider FOV, other things being equal.

    News from Leica?

You posted this whilst I was writing my post. Seems we broadly think the same! 😉

    News from Leica?

I think Leica caters for low mag fans very well already with the 7x bins in its range. Better than most other manufacturers anyway. I also don’t see any other NV’s in the future either. Fantastic as it is (and mostly loved by those who have actually experienced it) it hasn’t generally been...

Leica Trinovids - Old vs Recent

I'm probably in a minority, but I still get just as much enjoyment and use from my 10x25 BCA's despite now having a 7x42 UVHD+ 10x42 NV and 12x50 UVHD+. Their small size and EP doesn't in any way detract from their appeal, and I'm just as impressed with their performance (perhaps even more) as I...

Leica Trinovids - Old vs Recent

The Trinovid 8x20 and 10x25 are not waterproof. I compared my Trinovid 10x25 BCA's with a 10x25 UV BR a few years ago and it was my assessment that the UV was slightly brighter and more contrasty with a better diopter and waterproofing. The Trinovid is slightly smaller with a nicer design and...

Leica Trinovids - Old vs Recent

@South Pender, I’m not sure what you mean by ‘compact’. Many would consider the Trinovid BA and BN x42 compact by comparison to their contemporaries, and they are fine binoculars by all accounts. Others would take ‘compact’ to refer to the 8x20 and 10x25 models. I have a mid 90’s 10x25 BCA...

    Leica Ultravid HD Plus numbering

Hi Tom, Yes, interesting! I suppose that’s not at all unlikely, depending on the shop (size of stock, turnover etc).

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

Tenex, you may have changed your opinion about this binocular at some point, but you have expressed your negative opinion on numerous occasions. However, you are quite right. I’m sure you always are ;). Speculation and opinion are, as you say, different things. I was just going to write...

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

Tenex, I'm honestly not sure why you would ask this. You know full well that I was simply expressing a speculative opinion. I did give what believe are good reasons for my speculative opinion however. But again, I'm not sure what your motivation for the above would be. This is a discussion...

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

I’ve said it before but I think I bears repeating here. I think the reason that the 2012-15 Trinovid had such a short production run was not that it was a failed experiment by Leica or a very unpopular model, but that it was so close to the Ultravid HD that Leica was losing sales to itself...

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

Just for clarification, should any be needed, I am not saying that the Trinovid from 2012-15 is optically on a par with an UVHD, just that it's close - much closer than you'd expect. My 8x42 Trinovid does not lose much to my 7x42 HD+. The image is slightly darker and 'calmer'. There are...

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

Well, that’s just to say that your opinion is better than that of the reviewers 😉 (which it may or may not be), and indeed, the OP didn’t ask for anything other than an idea of what a reasonable price might be for a NOS example of a 10x42. The reason to suggest that there are different opinions...

How much is a new-old-stock Trinovid 10x42 (2012-2015 model) worth?

And, in case the OP hasn't seen and read the older threads on this model, I feel compelled again to suggest that the view expressed in post #4 is in the minority. For instance, have a look at this:- Best of the Best Binoculars Review 2012 - by Michael and Diane Porter where they find the 8x42...

    Leica Ultravid HD Plus numbering

I’ve seen big differences in coating colour between identical bins made within months of each other (Leica 12x50’s HD+), but not between L and R tubes!
