    backyard bees gone?

@ Poledark I suspect you live in a fairly low EMR environment, since you clearly live in the countryside. Many parts of the UK are still "underserved" by wireless communications, unlike where I live. Try going to a high-EMR environment and then see how many bees and sparrows you get.

    backyard bees gone?

In the two years since I began posting on BF, the world has lost a great many bees, insects and birds, among other forms of life. In 2017, we had lost approximately 75% of the world's honeybees, and now we have lost 90%. Our food security is at risk, as is life itself, if 5G kills the insects...

    backyard bees gone?

Electromagnetic radiation from cell towers, wi-fi and devices is killing not only the bees but everything else as well. And it is going to get much, much worse with 5G. See my post asking for people to sign the appeal for a moratorium on 5G.

    Loss of invertebrates

The insect decline worldwide is very serious, and Buglife, UK has a lot of information about this on their website--the rates of decline and loss of biodiversity is truly shocking. One reason for the decline is electromagnetic radiation from cell towers. Buglife started a topic with the EU...

Ecological impact of linking the Danube to the Aegean?

As reported in ekathimerini today (Aug 28, 2017), the Chinese want to link the Danube to the Aegean Sea at the Axios River Delta (one of Greece's important bird areas). The article is at...

    Warbler,Northern Greece

The reason I suggested chiffchaff is that there aren't, as far as I know, any acros that live in/pass through Greece which have black legs and a black bill. So can anybody actually identify this bird?

    Warbler,Northern Greece

It might help to work out what this bird is if you told us where you found it. The background of the photo doesn't look like reeds and I still think it looks more like a chiffchaff than a reed warbler.

    Lesvos Bird Reports 2017

Hi, Mick, Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to contact these people that does not involve Facebook? A telephone number, a different site? Thanks

    Lesvos Bird Reports 2017

Question for you. I live on Samos, not that far away, and we have been seeing a huge decline in bird numbers for the past 2-3 years. Admittedly Lesvos has always been better for birdlife than here, but the situation here has deteriorated sharply. For example we used to have flocks of...

    Warbler,Northern Greece

Not a reed warbler. Looks like a chiffchaff to me though the eye-stripe is not clearly defined in this photo. Not many warblers have black beak and legs. I'd go with chiffchaff.

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

To KB57, You are right, and I didn't cite the article specifically to prove that 4G is causing birds to disappear. But what it does show is that man-made frequencies are disrupting birds' ability to migrate. If you are interested in this topic, look at www.emf-portal.org and do a search, e.g...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

Hi, Henning, Please see my reply to Jos, above. I can certainly change the sentence we are arguing about and take out the words "As a result". In any case I think more birds at Kerkini primarily results from the fact that Kerkini is still 3G, and I think I made clear that even so, I feel that...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

Hi, Jos, Unfortunately you are the only person on Birdforum to come up with any actual figures, so I haven't got much basis for comparison one way or another. I think I told you I heard from someone in Ireland on another forum--he's seen bird numbers fall, and populations change, since his...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

Hi, Henning, I don't think it really matters if signal strength is not uniform across an area--I think the point is that birds do not do well in an EMR environment. If I change the sentence you object to it will not change my overall conclusion: less signal, more birds; strong signal, fewer...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

Hi, Jos, Thanks for the info. Not sure what to make of it as much research has been done to show that EMR disrupts migration and causes a great many other problems for birds. This is what I am seeing here, and I have heard from a ringer in Ireland who is observing a similar situation to mine...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

To Jos-- I think there are patterns that occur when 4G comes in, and which I do not fully understand. I don't know why, but tits, especially great tits, seem to hang around longer in 4G even when other birds disappear. Other people have noticed this as well. Warbler and finches, on the...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

To Jos, I am grateful for the information your have provided. However, as you said yourself, you don't have a picture of what things were like before 4G. So it's hard to arrive at conclusions without a basis of comparison. I have seen what happens when 3G areas become 4G, and in some cases...

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

To Hauksen-- I think creating an situation where the man-made electromagnetic radiation is millions of times more powerful than the earth's natural magnetic field IS habitat destruction. Also you have to realize that towers are placed so that when you move out of one area you are into another...

Looking for birdwatchers or ornithologists from the National Quiet Zone

Field work and studies have shown lots of problems to do with cellphone masts and radiation. Check this out: http://www.ntia.doc.gov/files/ntia/us_doi_comments.pdf I need to find anyone who lives or has gone birdwatching in the Quiet Zone to compare notes. As I understand, it is quite a...

Looking for birdwatchers or ornithologists from the National Quiet Zone

I would really like to compare notes with birdwatchers or ornithologists from the National Quiet Zone. I believe there are no mobile communications towers there. Where I live, in Greece, I have been noticing serious declines in bird numbers since 4G came online (see attachment). If you live...

Windfarms and radio towers affecting birds

Wind farms are dreadful--in Greece they are going up on many hill and mountain tops and will no doubt result in many bird deaths. Of even more concern is the electromagnetic radiation from cell towers. I have posted a thread on the conservation forum--please see it and read the attached...

Please help with a survey about birds and cell phone towers

Vanishing sparrows Electromagnetic radiation from cell towers may explain why sparrows are vanishing from the world's cities. See attached study.

Are bird numbers falling in Greece?

To Mick: I am trying to get more data. I do know that my own observations alone are not enough--though what I have seen on Samos is truly alarming, and this prompted the trip north. I did write to Birdlife, RSPB and other birding organizations, in some cases several times, but no one...
