I don't have that much experience of them but I think they are usually a fairly 'solitary' species? Not often in flocks?

Not a very 'scientific' reply but I can't think of any other species (..apart from GSP) that would be there in those numbers, most other possible plovers would be in much smaller groups...

Sounds like a Rosella to me, I often use that call to bring in Pale-headed Rosella here in Brisbane.

Can you do casual birding in China? RFI

Just a quick note of caution, when I was there last (2016) eBird was difficult to use properly as there was no access to Google services especially G.Maps and Gmail, I missed a return flight from Chengdu to Singapore as it was cancelled and didn't receive the warning-alert message on my Gmail...

    birdNET Analyzer model update

Do you have any idea what files/paths to replace to update to BirdNET-Pi? It was easy to replace the model files in Raven Pro but I've got far less confidence with the coding with BirdNET-Pi.

Just managed to get the models update working with Raven Pro, so thanks for getting the news out there, all I need to know now is how to use BirdNET-Analyzer and BirdNET-Pi ;)

    RFI - Brisbane (& beyond)

Hi Richard, if you decide that you need a guide whilst in the Brisbane area, I can help you, have been a birding resident here for 35+ years. On Saturday I found 109 species for a couple of birders from Victoria for the day around my residential area of Dayboro (....not far from Dakabin) Have a...

NZ and OZ, Birding Down Under extensions

Hi John, How long will you be stopping in Brisbane for? I'm just in the initial-stages of starting a small bird-tour company (I've already been doing it for 35+ years 'not-for-profit') I would be happy to pick you up from port and take you out for the day (...for a 'reasonable' fee, we could...

    Crimson-breasted Woodpecker? central Bhutan

Thanks Andy, we don't get too many 'Woodies' in Oz, but several of us on the tour questioned it's taxa. I'm not sure if we brought up it's 'age'... Tom
