    Car binoculars

Yep, that's why I asked if anyone had any experiences here. Looks like people here (and on Reddit) have left binoculars in a hot vehicle for years with no issues to the optics or rubber armor. I've moved past the stage of just having to cheap optics. I guess I'll have to get comfortable that...

    Car binoculars

That’s great! Looks like quite a few people leaving binoculars in the car with extreme heat and no issues with optics or the rubber parts.

    Car binoculars

I have a question the relates to having too many binoculars and too many excuses lol. Recommendations for a "car binocular?" I had my Athlon Midas 10x50s in the car while doing a day of errands with the family, and I used them to spot a plane while waiting in the parking lot (wife did...

Waterproof and Nitrogen-purged means it can withstand most things?

I have an Oberwerk BT-100XL and possibly adding some others, that are listed as waterproof and nitrogen-purged. I live across a pond (distance bird watching) and also do astronomy at night. Due to a lot of both day and night observing, is it okay to leave these out on a covered front porch so...

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a very creative person either! But I appreciate someone with hobbies like astronomy, bird-watching, etc. Sometimes the cost of these hobbies scare people away and they never even get to try it with a fair effort. I thought I would help with the jump start in these...

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

Thank you - yep, it’s hard to get a double-duty binocular as I’ve seen - just gotta spend even more on gadgets now! I ended up getting the Athlon Midas G2 10x50 on Black Friday for only $319 vs the $419 regular price. I use this with a monopod - it’s easy to take out at night. I am thinking...

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

I ended up ordering 2 of the Athlon Midas G2 10x50 since the reviews, price and opinions from friends were too good to pass up. Good thing I did, because the price of them are now at $419.99 everywhere! I got them for $305. I gift-wrapped the one for my brother and opened mine today -...

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

Got it - have narrowed down to Nikon AE 10x50 or Athlon Midas G2 10x50. The Athlon reviews are hard to pass for the price point

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

Bortle 5-6 is what everyone unfortunately is used to over here. But that's why I picked a higher 50mm for the binoculars vs the 42mm. Wouldn't that help in suburban skies? My BT-100XL does great in light polluted skies with the larger aperture.

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

Thanks for the questions. He is about to turn 40. He is pretty nearsighted, but always wears daily throw away contact lenses and never wears eyeglasses. He lives in a busy suburban area, roughly Bortle 5-6. Thanks!

Christmas gift thread for binoculars - what range is this?

Looking for a Christmas gift for my brother who is a beginner in astronomy. Need binoculars for him for primarily astronomy such as star clusters, the moon and he loves to try to spot out the Andromeda galaxy. So primary use would be astronomy and some/rare daytime bird watching. Price range...

High power binoculars for lake and mountain viewing or use my BT?

Looking for high power binoculars on a tripod mount for bird watching across a lake. I was thinking about the new Oberwerk 20x70 ED which seem to be well-priced and cool color: https://oberwerk.com/product/20x70-ed-ultra/ But I already have an Oberwerk BT-100XL SD with 7mm and 14mm eyepieces...

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

Yeah, same here. it's an ordeal in my yard to set up the tripod for my Celestron 9.25. I want some point and shoot. The tripod for binocular will be lighter I know, but I just don't want it. People on CloudyNights suggest a good glass with a parallelogram but that's expensive and still...

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

Yep, the Nikon WX - constructed to achieve the "best" binocular view without any worry about price ranges/materials costs.

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

Doing some more reading and research, but it’s been hard for me to do a trial of binoculars at night. But I’m already falling into the trap (hobby!) of wanting to own more than 1! I’m thinking, Astronomy friendly binoculars and my bird watching binoculars. Yeah, 8x42 is the all around one...

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

Thanks! Exactly the kind of suggestions I was looking for. and yes, dries1, I should have compared the Nikon M7s with the Oberwerk Sport EDs instead of the link you gave me. Some models in this thread that I will research. Researching and reading others' opinions is a big part of the fun here.

Nikon Monarch M7 vs Oberwerk, have been hearing so many opinions

I'm a newbie to using quality binoculars for bird watching (been using old toy-like things!) I've already asked on CloudyNights so wanted to see if any bird watchers here had any opinions. I did a search on this forum as well but was still wondering. I do have some experience with Oberwerk - I...
