    300D - Partial metering

On those occasions when I would like to get the nearest equivalent to spot metering, partial metering (centre 9%) seems my best choice. The manual indicates that this is only available when AE Lock is used. I've tried reading the manual but don't fully understand the explanation regarding AE...

Does anybody use this device or something similar? http://www.card-media.co.uk/xs+drive+2+XL.htm I need to replace my card reader (much cheaper!!) but also would find the extra storage useful for backup/holidays/field trips. Manfrotto Sliding Plate - info please

I use a Kowa 823M and CP4500 as my usual digiscoping setup. Recently I have been experimenting with my EOS300D mounted to the scope on my Manfrotto tripod via my Kowa adapter. Results are promising but the rig is now 'rear heavy' and hard to handle. I am thinking of using the Manfrotto sliding...

    Focal Length/Magnification

Am I right in calculating the magnification of my DSLR setup as follows? EOS 300D - 'crop factor' = X 1.6 300mm Canon lens Total focal length - 300 X 1.6 = 480mm Does this give an overall magnification of 480/50 = 9.6, or is the correct calculation 480/35 = 13.7 (when compared to a 35mm film...

    Panasonic FZ20 - Digiscoping

Anybody tried digiscoping with this camera? The f2.8 constant aperture throughout the zoom range sounds attractive. Am I right in thinking that it needs a 72mm adapter? I have a 52mm adapter which I may be able to mate via step rings. Cheers Ken

    Prime lens for digiscoping?

Is it better to use say a fast 50mm prime lens for digiscoping with my Canon 300D/Kowa 823M 21XW? I am currently using the supplied kit lens (EFS-18/55mm f3.5/f5.6) and finding it difficult, particularly in poor (normal!!) light If so what would members recommend. If not, what is the optimum...
