    ID Empidonax, Rondeau-Ontario, 10th may 2018

I recognise each year will be different and as a Brit, I’m not local to Ontario but fwiw, my records have earliest ‘Trails’ & Arcadian from 18th& 19th May. I’m sure those more local can comment as to whether this is of relevance over the years?

UK: Tories want to legalise fox hunting

The current double-standards : If I were to let my dogs attack and kill lambs so I can spectate and salivate I would justifiably expect farmer and Mr plod to throw the book at me. Commercial loss of stock, what? Same farmer might like Mr Huntsman to run his pack over same land and allow his...

UK: Tories want to legalise fox hunting

Could it be that we no longer need our dogs to catch our meat and therefore we would be doing this only for a leisure activity. If the deer need to be controlled why not manage this through more humane ways - because we can. Is it just that this is just not enough fun and games for people...

UK: Tories want to legalise fox hunting

in context of the trolls or more those psychopathic enough to enjoy animals being torn apart just for their delight ?

UK: Tories want to legalise fox hunting

I have written confirmation from my MP here in Beds that he is in favour of hunting foxes with hounds and if called upon, would vote accordingly. No matter what other policies he may have & support, for that one alone I would never ever grant him my vote. When there are so many other things in...

What it's like to be on the receiving end of a twitch.

The last scarce bird (Hoopoe) I found on my local patch left a slight feeling of regret from both myself in sharing the news but more importantly the farmer and his wife who's lives were impacted over period of a week or more. Next time I would give more thought before sharing such news. 99% of...

    RAW File Storage

Paul, I would agree with Andrea, Kevin and others but would also add that what you choose to keep may depend on whether you are primarily a photographer of Birds & Nature and want optimum results, or whether like me you are first a birder who happens to like capturing images and memories along...

10 bags of dead pheasants found in Norfolk

Also sad that they then try to hide the evidence and pretend that their sport is to put meat on the table. Even sadder that licences are being issued to allow "removal" of natural predators to allow this wastage to take place.

    The Supervet - Buzzards- Wed 23/11/2016 20.00-21.00pm

Couldn't agree more. It made me think how we can have passionate people willing to cherish saving a life with such determination whilst some others would value this life as completely worthless and shamefully blow away at the squeeze of a trigger. Big respects to the former and may the latter...

Adieu to the Common House Sparrow??

I have been year-round feeding for past 20 years and have a stable population of around 20-30 birds. They soon disappear if I'm away and the food runs out and then take a few days to get back to the numbers I usually see. I am confident that if I stopped feeding then these birds would not hang...
