    After more digging in my books and zooming in on the image the eyes are yellow and Glaucus-winged are dark eyes with slight red ring - the closeest match appears to be the Herring Gull

    Hi Rainbird Yes we are close, I am just a few miles from the border in Surrey and see Mt baker from my window and driving down our street. I have a Bald Eagle's nest just a mile from me.     Yes, very interesting, there is around 60,000+ in a very large field on Westham Island, it took 13 shots to make a panarama stitched in photoshop 280+ inches at 100 dpi, just to cover the flock from end to end. And a little bit of satisfaction after successful brain surgery just over two months...
