    Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 + TC for birding

Does anyone have experience of the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 coupled with a Nikon teleconverter? I was thinking of trying a 70-200 with a 1.7 tc for bird photography. My main birding lens is a 300mm 2.8 + 1.7tc but sometimes it is a brute to cart around all day. Would this suggested combination work...

    D700 Upgrade

Does anyone know if Nikon plans to upgrade the D700 this year? I am considering buying one, but would be very miffed if I missed out on a possible upgrade. Having used the D700 I'm really impressed with the ISO capabilities. No noise at 800 or 1000 ISO. Also the true wide angle capabilities...

Which Nikon 500mm is the best for bird photography. Any ideas from those who have used these top end lenses would be appreciated. Richard
