    I believe this is a meadow pipit but at first thought it to be rock pipit can anyone confirm and what is best way of distinguishing. Believe the rock would have a less distinct circle round eye. Edit while since I have been here no attachment sorry

    Hi A friend asked me to identify these birds taken on the Isle of Islay, Scotland in October. He thought possible little gull but I am not sure at all.

    Got a few through window but the youngster seemed to be staying around so went outside to see if I could get a shot. He stayed for one before lifting off away from the camera.

    Came home from work to be signaled to be quiet coming into house and camera was in hand. I guessed Linda wanted picture of something in back garden and sure enough young sparrowhawk on fence. This shot through window as it heard a bird alarm calling.

    Female seems to be scolding male not sure why. Have not entered for a while pity about branches out the top of head but I do like the pair of them.

    Winter break but we were lucky with weather. Lived in Scotland all my life but never been up west coast in winter was well worth it just to avoid the midgies!
