Ethiopia report, part 5 Do not hesitate Paul, you won't be disappointed. Such an amazing country for birding! Simien Mountains National Park The last section of the trip took us to the other main mountain area of the country, for which we drove all the way back to Addis Ababa and then took a...

Ethiopia report, part 4 Thanks again! Lake Langano to Awash National Park and the Afar region The long drive from Yabello to Lake Langano, heading north towards Addis Ababa until we found ourselves back to the central Rift Valley lakes, took almost all day. We arrived in the late afternoon to...

Ethiopia report, part 3 The Sanetti Plateau Lying between 3,800m and 4,377m above sea level, this is part of the famed “Roof of Africa”, and one of the most extraordinary natural places I have ever visited. It may lack the numbers of animals found in other better known African reserves, but...

One of the most sought-after Namibian birds, they live in nomadic family groups and can be quite unpredictable. I was lucky to find a small band at Huab Lodge, in the Erongo Mountains area. It was late in the morning with harsh light, but I was happy to get them both looking at me.

Beautiful capture of a gorgeous bird. Outstanding.

    Clark's Nutcracker

These birds are common and confiding around lake Louise and other tourist and ski hotspots in Alberta, Canada. Light wasn't great and the background is a little distracting, but I hope I got some of the wintery feeling (it was -20C!)

Thank you all for your comments. I did have to wait a while, and improvise a hide under some branches and broad leaves. Definitely worth it...
