What kind of beetle? CT USA

Thanks. This is sort of interesting. There's a lot more bugs, spiders, and insects to explore in the area than there are birds!

Hmm. Fortunately, this was outside! I've seen cockroaches in a restaurant before and they were different looking than this although I imagine there must be different types.

Do they make a superzoom with a larger sensor?

I get it. Kind of like the smaller millimeter eyepiece on a telescope increases magnification but reduces light and sharpness versus a larger eyepiece which does the opposite. I guess the perfect camera I'm looking for hasn't been invented yet. Thanks

Do they make a superzoom with a larger sensor?

I have Canon 50 superzoom camera. It has lots of zoom and works pretty good under ideal conditions but I'm wondering if there is a camera out there that has as much zoom but with a larger sensor? If not, then why can't they put the larger sensors in a superzoom camera like the Canon sx50? It...

Can you identify this Warbler Song? CT USA

I know that it would be rare although there was one documented in town a couple of miles away last month. I did get enough of a view of the facial markings that I could narrow it down a Hooded or a Kentucky. I checked the songs of the Kentucky which had it singing 5 notes but this bird repeated...

Can you identify this Warbler Song? CT USA

I was walking along an overgrown rail trail and encountered both Hooded Warbler (singing typical song) and Common Yellowthroat. I had a view of one bird that I thought may have been a Kentucky Warbler but could not get a prolonged view or photo. I did record this song in the vicinity of the...

What kind of Fungi? CT USA

Thanks Nick- your comment-"It probably doesn't help that your mushrooms are being parasitized by another fungus, probably a Hypocrealean species like Hypomyces which can to some extent alter the colour and shape" was interesting and something i wasn't aware of.

    CT USA White-faced Ibis?

Is the Ibis on the left of the Glossy Ibis a White-faced ibis. First photo shows white around base of bill and reddish legs. Second photo seems to show reddish legs and lores in the photos. I included a solo photo too-unfortunately they didn't come out good. What do you think? -thanks-Larry

    CT USA-White-winged Scoter?

I was walking along the CT River and didn't have my scope with me but got a grainy distant photo of these ducks. It didn't seem to match the more common possibilities. I was wondering if they are White-winged Scoter which is a species I've only seen a couple of times through a scope under better...
