    learnt a new trick yesterday

    I have a P1000. Where I fish I often spot buzzards wheeling at a great height, probably 500feet or more, and usually fail to get a sharp picture. What I normally do is to zoom out to almost maximum and then use the "snap back" function to get the bird in frame and release the snap back to zoom...

    Wren busy nest building

    I have a metal Flamingo in the garden which has a hole in the belly due to rust. Wren has decided to build a nest in it. Problem is that it is very low down to the ground and I have two dogs. Had to make a decision as to whether discourage the Wren, move the Flamingo or make it a safe place...

    Why do you need high ISO ?

    I must admit to having very limited experience of cameras, never having owned a DSLR ! but having checked back a year or two I find that the highest ISO shown on EXIF data has been 800, this in a gloomy woodland and at 40mtrs through undergrowth. Any darker and I would not have bothered to...

    P1000 low light performance

    Went to the woods late this afternoon, keeping out of the way of "the women" Pretty dim but always a chance of something, watched a squirrel disappear but then nothing. Light still fading fast and then spotted a movement about 45yards away, leaves being disturbed..could be a magpie or...
