Thanks for your kind replies. I will take a look at those links. I'm also thinking in a "hand-made" adapter.

Best option for Samsung S8 digiscoping

I have a new Samsung S8 and I'm interested in trying it for digiscoping. I've been looking for information in this section and this is all I found: "We will continue with the 3D printed parts for the time being but the advent of curved glass screens on the Samsung S8 means we won't make a...

    Gull in Iceland

Thanks for your replies. I will leave it uncertain then, as this is the only picture I have. At least I learnt a glaucoides should be whiter.

    Gull in Iceland

Hello. I've just arrived from Iceland back to the terrible heat here in Spain. It was not a birding trip but I tried to see as much birds as I could. It was my first time there and I'm not used to these gulls, so I would like to confirm this is a Larus glaucoides and, if it is, what's best to...

    Bird identification. Central Spain

Hello. Could you please help us with this bird? Even with this picture we are having two options and we are not sure which one to choose: Hippolais polyglotta vs. Acrocephalus scirpaceus. Our first choice was the Melodious, but someone said it could be the Reed, and now we have are not really...

    Short visit in May

I'm not sure about the local dialect but, for me, hondo and fondo are equivalent: a piece of land lower than the land around it. In their web, they say "El Hondo" is in a tectonic depression called plain of Elche. Nice subject this about local names; like the local names for the same bird in...

    Short visit in May

Thanks again. We´ll try both of them.:t: Lazza, Valhondo is one of the multiple local name variations for "deep valley", and this variations are used as local names all over the country; sure "El Hondo" has a similar meaning. Valhondo is a little place near my village (in the center of Spain)...

    Short visit in May

Thank you. As we are going to Farne, sure will walk part of the coast, and now the option to Lindisfarne, it will be great to try also some other birds. Red grouse and grey partridge would be great. Can we try those in Cheviot hills?

    Short visit in May

Hi birding pals. I'm a Spanish birder travelling to your patch during the first days of May. We are visiting some friends we have in Newcastle, and will travel with more friends and wifes. So, unfortunatly, time for birding will be very little. We will stay in Seahouses for four days and we...

    Raptor ID - Central Spain

Thanks. That was the other option we thought. But, those two pictures and this one where taken in the same minute. No other raptors flying; only two birds flying together and "playing" or "fighting". We thought they were the same bird. I usually think that long and little head (like a pigeon)...

    Raptor ID - Central Spain

Hi. I'd like your comments about these pictures. I have some very bad pictures where I can see the head pattern of pernis apivorus, but I always saw them not as dark as this one. Thank you. Valhondo

Cirlus or citrinella. Galicia, north of Spain

Thanks a lot. We'll keep this picture as "cirl or yellowhammer". Unfortunately, we could not see the back pattern. I gave some brightness to the picture already; the light was not good and the original is even darker. In this area cirl is easier to see. Anyway, great posts and pictures. Thank...

Cirlus or citrinella. Galicia, north of Spain

Hi. Most of us think this is Emberiza cirlus, but some think it could be citrinella. They say Emberiza cirlus should show a face with more contrast. Picture taken in December; it's the only one we could take. What's your bet? And why? Thanks Jesús

    Taking a bath - Spain

Eduardo, thanks for your detailed reply. I'll try to remember those details. It's a pitty the pictures are burnt and the details are not clear. There was sun and shadow were the birds came to the water and I didn´t always have time to change my settings before the bird flew away. Cheers, Jesús

    Taking a bath - Spain

Thanks for your replies. I thought it was a warbler, with that head and beak, but could not find which one in my guide. As I just have a general guide with just a few drawings of each bird, I thought it could be a young bird, easier to find in a specific guide. Lappkrabben, you're right...

    Taking a bath - Spain

Hello all. Last sunday I was hidden near this little river in the central part of Spain. It was really hot and a lot of birds came to drink and take a bath. I could identify all of the rest, but I don´t know what this one can be. A lot of the visitors were young birds from this last spring; I...

    Help with this bird

It was the yellowish beak what was not clear for me. In the guides I have it looks black in the pendulines. Now it´s clear. Thanks to all of you.

    Help with this bird

Hi again. Just in case this other picture can help.... Unfortunately, I couldn't take a picture from the back side of the bird. In the first picture it looks like the back is brown. There are penduline tits in the area. And it could be. Thank you. Regards, Jesús

    ¿Aythya fuligula?

HI everybody. ¿Do you see here a clear Aythya fuligula? There were several in the same lake; the others were, but we saw something diferent in this one. We thought of collaris or even a hybrid. At the end we decided fuligula, but still not 100% sure. What's your opinion? Thanks. Jesús
