    Mississippi Kite ?

Please see previous post which has the photo. Sorry for my error. This bird was photographed in the Everglades in the Royal Palm area last May 20th at 10:20 AM. The grey head and the inside of the wings make me think it could be a Kite and not a Hawk. Thanks for helping me.

    Species not found on eBird

Thank you all for your replies. I am trying to report activities for sightings in Florida. I am from Quebec Canada and the problem with the Kite seems to be a language problem. The French name used to be "Milan à queue fourchue" but it has been changed to "Naucler à queue fourchue". To...

Best period for Forest and Woodland birds

Hey thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Regarding timing, Jan. and Feb. are in peak tourist season and have less appeal for me. I'm thinking Mid March, 2 weeks before my last trips in April but it is not definitive yet. Thanks for the suggestions. I took good note of Dickinson State Park...

Best period for Forest and Woodland birds

I have already done 2 birding trips in Florida in the past years and I have enjoyed good success with Whetland and Aquatic birds. For my next trip in 2019, I would like to put more emphasis on the other types: passerines, forest, woodland, grassland, etc... Both trips were made during the...

End of the journey ! I just posted my SkyWatcher SW80ED 600mm for sale. Unfortunately, it has become too heavy and difficult to focus for my capabilities. I enjoyed every minutes of this journey. The photo outings and the countless hours testing and experimenting have been very enjoyable...

Great shot Tord. Your hand holding of the scope amazes me. Here is one to make you smile. I wonder if the stern thinks that the same color post is a member of the family ? Birdbrain ? Taken with the easier to hold PL 100-400mm.

Great shot Tord ! Here in Quebec, we have the Bittern, which is a large bird and the elusive Least Bittern, which is uncommon and difficult to locate - it looks a lot like yours. I was lucky to see a few. I envy you to travel to exotic places like Sri Lanka... I just come back from a birding...

You are nice Dan, thanks ! You are right, the photo clearly shows the details of the bird. If I see it that way, it does the job and it is a nice picture... but it will never win a contest.

Do you really like the steel fence ? I don't. I don't like to show nature with non nature elements. Buildings, posts, fences, wires, feeders... Also, the tail is hidden. Canon 50D, Canon 300mm + 1.4X, ISO 400, 1/250, f/8,0
