    Nordic or Russian Jackdaws? Any thoughts on whether this bird is "nordic" monedula or possibly "Russian" type soemmerrengii. Photographed in Netyhbridge, Highland.

    Can anyone ID this call someone passed to me. Recorded recently in Perthshire, habitat mixed wooded gardens/parkland. I suspect it maybe something domestic? Heard several times at first light, though this recording was made at about 11am

    Has anybody had issues with the rubber armouring wearing and cracking excessively at the points of grasp? This seems to be an issue of poor quality rubber, I have only had mine 18 months and this is the state they are in. I do use them a lot but so do most birders!!

    Old BB's

    Guess I am not the only one, but I have a vast collection of old "British Birds" sitting here which I need to get rid of as I just don't have the space!!! Anyone collect these or interested in having them? Just can't bring myself to dump them in the recycling bin. John.

    Formats and Quality

    Am trying to get my head round video editing, so have a couple of "basic" questions re formats. Ok here goes. The camera records in MPEG2, but to edit in Moviemaker I need to convert to AVI....does this lose quality? (Also why doesn't MM just accept MPEG?) Then what is the best way to save it...

    "Yellow-Legged" type Gull, Lossiemouth

    I hate gulls........anyone have a clue what this one is? Bird with darkish mantle in centre of pic. Mantle clearly between Herring and LBB (compared both together next to it) and yellow legs but am just not convinced it is YLG?

    Day flying Moth ID

    Can anyone id this one for me? It had very rapid wing beats and was hovering at flower heads to get nectar, almost like a Humingbird Hawk Moth. The abdomen had a dark pointed projection which you can you just see in the photo. John.
