    Sharp-shinned or Cooper's? California Coast

    I'm not confident enough to ID this one but overall shape says Cooper's to me. I can almost make out some short tail feathers under there too but the pattern on the chest definitely has me considering Sharp-shinned also. I cant wait to hear some more opinions on this one.

    Immature Raptor?

    It's the overall shape and color that did it for me. The small appearance ruled out Buteo and the long wings in relation to the tail ruled out Accipiter. The dark brown color and also the tail pattern helped. Once you see the Merlin enough it will become an easy ID.
