Lightweight lens
I have the 7D mkII and use it with the 100-400 mk II and it is a superb combination plus it will autofocus well with the 1.4 converter (centre point + four helper points) with little effect on image quality. Canon help please.
Have you given the contacts on both lens and body a good clean? Lots of people recommend an eraser but I have read somewhere this can damage the contacts so have used a microfibre cloth with a little glasses cleaning cleaner (bought at Specsavers) sprayed on the cloth not the contacts directly... -

I would love to know the answers to your question too. Just in case you missed it Olympus have now got firmware 3.0 out for the EM-1 which is supposed to improve C-AF and makes C-AF available in H continuous mode up to 9fps so hopefully that might help. -

That's awful what with all the reports of focussing problems and now this the 7D II goes right on the back burner as far as my possible purchases until Canon have sorted their QC out. -

Worth it to have a Full Frame camera?
Might be worth noting that several sites like Amazon now list the 6D as discontinued so if you want one there should shortly be a price drop then they will become unobtainable new. -

Problem with 100 - 400 Canon: a desperate appeal!
I have a 70-300 which did similar things with or without IS engaged and it turned out to be the autofocus motor. Obviously everything worked fine with autofocus turned off so that might help with a diagnosis. If the previous replacement is just out of warranty then they may still honour the... -

Thanks Roy, the big difference is hopefully decently quick focussing plus control of where it focusses via the touch screen when in live-view. The preview even says it can follow focus someone riding a bike towards the camera. -

Only just seen this thread. That is the way I did things when buying a new computer and putting a newer version of Elements on it. Works fine if somewhat lengthy procedure if you have a lot of photographs.- miketoll
