    Size can be very deceptive, but if it's the size of a Cardinal (as suggested here), then that excludes some of the suggestions so far, because Blue Waxbill/, cordon-bleus, and Indigo Bunting are obviously smaller.

    Are you sure about that? I have a recollection of discovering (too late) after visiting Jamaica that ship assisted Carib Grackle was possible at a couple of places near Montego Bay.

    No comment re ID, but I seem to recall that Carib Grackles have been present somewhere in Jamaica in recent years as a result of birds that are assumed to be ship assisted. Happy to be corrected on that one.

    Could be wrong with a pic like this, but I think the bill looks too thin and pointy for House Sparrow, and it also looks like it might have a narrow pale median crown stripe.

    Blimey, I've just worked out that whether or not I count heard only birds on my life list currently determines whether I've made it to half way or not! At the current rate of splitting things I've not seen (or heard) I'll soon be well less than half way though!

    Glad it's not just me who has trouble with wrens! I've only got 24 heard only birds and 2 of them are wrens: Wing-banded and Chestnut-breasted. I even saw vegetation move around the Chestnut-breasted, and the Wing-banded was ear-splittingly close but I couldn't scramble up a vertical bank high...
