    i had a bit of a feeling for caspian too but might just be the picture. just seems a fair bit of bill showing and looks a heavyish bird even at that angle ?

    its not an obp. it certainly looks like a bad photo of a richards to me but i have no experience of the other eastern pipits not on the british list. as jane says without more pics its impossible i think

    in a european context this looks like a larger richards (ricardi) type bird. mantle too poorly marked for red-throated. any more pics or notes on a call by the bird perhaps? jonny

    i give up. this is going the same way as the last thread with far too much analysis and trying to judge extent of slightly blurred streaking etc etc. take a step back and look at the bird - its a hobby!

    bolton - are you admitting this bird is a hobby ? the whole idea of jizz is actually interpreted as a 'feel' for a bird and this just feels lke a hobby photo or not . i seem hobby at the nest and have 20 years ezperience so jizz is sumat i know and generally trust.

    Is this European Reed Warbler?

    on measurements basra is a large warbler but i have no experienc of them. if the pics are of a reed sized bird then i still fancy fuscus

    well the new thread worked LB ! but is absolutely a HOBBY ! either the ringer mixed the photo up(i hope !) or made a gaff but that pic is a hobby!
