    Duck ID.

    What bird do you find annoying?

    Only one bird truly annoys me so far, that bird would be the Blue Jay. Its screech is dreadfully annoying. There is just something about it, I have lots of species visiting daily, and lots of groups of birds but only the blue jay has been an issue. Do any annoy you? Drake.

    First red shafted.

    First red shafted northern flicker, not a rare bird but it is the first time I have seen one, we have had many yellow shafted, female and males, so this is a nice change. Center of Nebraska. Drake.

    A wonderful return.

    White-Breasted Nuthatch. Which is my wife's favorite, whom we have dubbed "Sid" has returned this year, first sighting was today, eating suet and nuts and berries, for quite some time. Drake.

    First dark-eyed Junco of the year.

    Well, first one this cold season, I kinda missed them over the spring and summer etc. With the cold for me comes juncos, woodpeckers and goldfinches, sadly we don't get to see the goldfinches when they are in breeding plumage, just dull colors. Drake. Nebraska USA

    Grackles washing their food.

    I have noticed a lot of this, The common grackles go to the food bowl on the ground, grab a nut or berry or seed then walk over to the water bowl located on the ground aswell and dip the piece of food in before they eat it.     Woke this morning with 1½ feet of snow and counting.

    What kind of seeds/food do you put out??

    Blackbird.
