    Hornsea Mere Had a nice (but very cold) morning at Hornsea mere today. The Iceland gull showed very well around noon after being quite distant sat on ice for most of the morning. Also flock of bean geese over. I had gone before the probable ring billed gull was reported. More shots on the blog.

    Steve My shots were from yesterday (Sunday). Yes I arrived after it had left the area at the reserve entrance.My shots were taken from the roadside in Hempholme village looking into farmland.When it landed in the farmyard it was about 30m away but in fields it was up to 100+m away. Cheers

    Quite ironic after the most productive year in terms of species seen ever(254 at the last count?), the year ends on quite a low note. Surely if the road is permanently closed it would seriously hamper any future chances of equalling or beating this record? The point looks a hell of a long way...

    Desert Wheatear had a cracking afternoon with the desert wheatear at bempton today. It showed really well and was almost oblivious to those watching it at times coming to within 2m! More shots on the blog.

    Kilnsea for an hour Just popped in at Kilnsea for the last hour this evening. YBW showed well in the last of the sunlight, went down to canal scrape and saw the red backed shrike in the bushes opposite the hide plus ring ouzel.

    Spurn Today Nice day at spurn today. saw most of the decent birds around apart from the richards pipit. Quite a lot of owls (mostly short eared)about. Lots of common birds as well including redwing, fieldfare, and goldcrest. more photos and a full account on the blog.
