Well, my decision to come out of 'night shift' retirement has been extremely fruitfull as far as birding is concerned. An early start this morning yielded the following on a 2 hour visit before heading home for a dose of Richard and Judy AND THEN BED(errr Philip and Fern ??) If anyone is...

    The Bitterns are Back

Very good news Peter. More news on Bitterns from the local press in Aberdeen recently concerning Bittern sightings at Loch of Strathbeg 40 miles north of Aberdeen, and a hope that they may breed there next year. As kids we used to camp out over the summer holidays to see this amazing bird...

    Volunteering - Your Experiences ??

I think I really must be getting old as I have recently been thinking of volunteering for the RSPB doing reserve work. Do any members have any experiences of this - Good or bad, I am interested in both. Work does not give me the time to commit to any survey, or time consuming stuff anymore...

Out of my Graduating class of 31, 25 of us have made the move 'doon sooth' or abroad - pretty sad really, but the choices were limited...

A very emotive subject I think we would all agree. Here's my tuppence worth, which I am sure many will disagree with, so I will don my tin hat ........... My opinion, for what it is worth is to let the hunters be, this is not because I agree with it, far from it, so let me explain..... Having...

    What started you birding.

Wow, what a great way to spend a dull nightshift reading some fabulous tales !! My story brings back a lot of great memories, but I always think that I was lucky growing up in the North East Of Scotland. Cue Homer Simpson dream sequence........... It was the summer of 80' when a warden from...

    THE RSPB AND DISCONTENT

A very tricky one this. I have been a member for about 21 years (I am only 29 !) from YOC days. Coming from a fairly rough area, I would never have been exposed to Birdwatching had an RSPB warden from a local reserve come to my school to give a talk, I have been hooked ever since, so I guess I...
